# Ma'am, Your Baby Weighs 341 lbs.

In November I had a thread going about the [three preggers elephants](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=343652) at the St. Louis Zoo. While the first of the three anticipated births ended sadly, I’m happy to say that Ellie finally gave birth yesterday to a [341(!) lb. girl.](http://www.stlzoo.org/animals/abouttheanimals/mammals/elephants/asianelephant/babyelephant/) This is about 100 lbs. heavier than the standard elephant at birth.

The mom’s 34, the dad’s 13, and the kid weighs 341 lbs? Wasn’t that an episode of Jerry Springer or something?

Update: If you go to the story [again](http://www.belleville.com/mld/belleville/news/local/15197999.htm?source=rss&channel=belleville_local), you’ll find that there is now a “more photos” button. You’ll also find that photo #2 clearly shows this is a Terminator Elephant bent on killing us all.
