Can you hook a VGA or SVGA monitor up to a Macintosh G5 tower? Or only something specifically Mac-made?

It requires an adapter to convert the output port (Apple Display Connector, IIRC) to a standard VGA port.

Apple, about the time they introduced the Blue & White G3 towers, switched to using the same monitor connection used by the rest of the PC industry, rather than the proprietary connection they had used for years.

My G4 is connected to a standard Sony monitor without any adapter.

Wait, my bad. While the G3 & G4 had the standard VGA connection, the G5 is different. From [http://www.apple.com/powermac/specs.html:](http://www.apple.com/powermac/specs.html:)

“ADC and DVI connectors; DVI to VGA adapter included”

Absolutely. My G5 came last month. It has an ADC and a DVI connector and comes with a DVI-\>D-25 standard VGA adaptor. OS 10.3 will work with any size monitor that can go 800x600 and above.
