Kodus to the film’s marketing team. Getting those positive notices (from negligable publications) online before the real reviews came in was a major coup. For future reference - no review published before Variety or Hollywood Reporter post theirs is ever worth taking seriously. ---

Went and saw it this weekend. Yes I did. It is one of those movies that is VERY funny in parts and VERY unfunny in parts. Overall, it is mildly unsuccessful, although I am sure some will hate it, which I would understand. for me the problem was that it was too crude, and not in a prudish sense, but in the sense that it didn’t really need to be. I do think it got some of the 1980’s action flick spoof stuff down pretty well, but overall it was just dumb. My advice, don’t see it in the theater, rent it for $1 from Redbox, realize that much of the movie will make you feel stupider, and note that there are some things that are damn funny. ---

Well, that’s disappointing. I’ll probably see it on Netflix anyway, but I’d hoped it’d be a dark horse hit. On the other hand, the whole “double decker” thing in the trailer made me go, “…Really? _This_ is what you’re selling the movie with?” ---

As for one of the really funny parts, I love: when he throws down that packet of throat lozenges on the desk, right before he rips the man’s throat. “You might wanna take the whole pack” ---

I expected dumb and got dumb that I enjoyed and got dumb I did not enjoy. And that sentence is my new signature. ---

Well that was an hour and a half I’ll never get back. I would’ve left before the halfway mark, but I wanted to see Ryan Phillippe’s callback to MacGruber’s naked celery scene. Even \*that \*was disapointing. Forte was completely naked; all Phillippe did was pull his pants down. A quick shot of his ass was not worth sitting through this crap.
