I saw a trailer for [_Machete_](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Machete_%28film%29) when I saw [_Grindhouse_](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grindhouse_%28film%29) – but I thought it was just, you know, made **as** a trailer, to add verisimilitude to the 1970s-drive-in-movie theme. But apparently they made a whole movie – I just saw a trailer for it now, on TV. Hm. Wonder if it’ll have the same exploitation-feel as _Grindhouse?_ Oh, and, you won’t believe what I found googling on the title: [“Racist film ‘Machete’ produced with taxpayer dollars.”](http://www.infowars.com/racist-film-machete-produced-with-taxpayer-funds/) From Alex Jones’ InfoWars, 'nuff said. ---

It makes sense, they are both Robert Rodriguez films (who is not only one of my favorite directors, but from what I’ve seen of him, a pretty cool guy, and a great cook! Go watch his “ten minute cooking school” videos on youtube (they are extra features on a couple of his DVDs…I’d link to them, but youtube is blocked at work.) ---

Totally unrealistic. The last time I disemboweled someone and used their intestines as a rope to swing down to the next floor, I totally wiped out and had to go to the hospital. Joe ---

Well, to be fair, Rodriguez makes movies so cheaply and quickly that they are almost guaranteed to turn a profit. Any studio that likes to make money would be stupid not to greenlight just about anything he asks for. Case in point: _Sharkboy and Lavagirl_ got greenlit based on a treatment that Rodriguez credited to his **then-5-year-old-son**. It sucked. Badly. But it still turned a tidy $19m profit on a $50m investment, which was good enough to greenlight [a sequel](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Adventures_of_Shark_Boy_and_Lava_Girl#Sequel). ---

Well, I hope they splice every single second of the trailer’s footage into the film. I mean, there is no other artistic choice.
