Also shouldn’t Betty have been flat on her back (easiest for the doctor, hardest on mom)? It looked like she was sitting up. ---

Episiotomies were more common then. Shaving probably made sterilizing the area easier, and more effective. ?? ---

I remember my mom telling me that the doctors knocked her out just enough where she was barely aware of what was going on, and according to her, didn’t even know I’d been born. She was hanging onto my foot and kept telling the docs “I haven’t had the baby yet! What are you talking about??” ---
