Marten Holden Weiner. Huh? Why would you name your kid Holden Weiner?

Or a fan of Australian General Motors cars.

I immediately thought of the movie Lord of War where Cage’s character takes his sleeping son’s toy cowboy revolver and throws it away. Plus, in both cases the gun being thrown away wasn’t even a (current) military style weapon.

It’s probably pronounced “winer”, which is the German pronunciation (actually, “viner” would be more accurate).

Oh man, that was tedious. It was possibly the most painful scene of the entire series, watching Glenn and Betty’s conversation. It seemed to last for 20 minutes. The kid’s no actor, but I think it’s his dead-eyed stare that really kills it for me.

Sure, but most people won’t know how it’s supposed to be pronounced. In print, it’s risible. It was either a thoughtless thing to do to the kid, or pure sadism.

If those two performers had a child, it would be the AntiThespian–a being whose acting abilities are so far into negative territory that by uttering a single line, it can suck all believability from performances taking place within twenty square miles. We’re talking _Troll 2_ bad, here.

I had the one Betty threw away when I was a kid. It was made by the Marx toy company, which also produced a Luger complete with holster and pistol belt and a Wehrmacht helmet, all in plastic. (I believe the submachine gun was a copy of a German weapon as well.)

I nit you shot! They must have made those for all the guys my age who didn’t dream of being Sgt. Saunders.

That said, I wish I still had all the WWII stuff my dad bought me, German included. ☹

I think you (and others) are missing the point: it’s \*supposed \*to be painfully tedious. The show is showing the painful tedium of a large swatch of real life. The part of life that Betty and Glenn own hook, line, and sinker.

Agreed.

I have found that all scenes in Mad Men that involve children are cringe worthy.

Every kid on Mad Men (IMHO) comes off as wooden.

Well they certainly picked the creepiest looking actors to play Glenn and Gene.

The twins who play Gene are the same kids who play Abel on “Sons of Anarchy”, who is IMO the creepiest little kid on television.

I agree and do not understand the big Sally fan club. Everyone raves about her as an actress and to me she’s just barely _meh_.

+1

```
 I'm ready to beat Don up as well, but I didn't see one look, comment or moment of body language that signified he was enjoying or encouraging her flirtations. He was in a no win situation. He could ignore it as he did, or call it out and look like an a-hole. He (correctly) chose the former.
Have you always felt that way? I’ve always liked her but think she was really weird / unappealing in the last ep. I’m wondering if we’re supposed to be sensing her mood change with the upheaval of the times? Or maybe she’s been infected by Mr. Weiner the Younger’s illness.
