Roman baseball was played under different rules than the modern game. The ball had a iron core making it much more hazardous, batters were allowed to club basemen, and anyone tagged out was put to death. ---

Roman baseball bats were carved from marble by Michelangelo and Bernini, who had a bitter feud over which was better. The Pieta Pounder was extremely popular, while the Prosperina Pelter came in a close second. The two had a duel at 30 paces, but neither could throw a chisel that far. The two carried chips on their shoulders for the rest of their lives. ---

The Vatican’s accumulated collection of 4,304 Michelangelo self-portraits was eaten by Pope John Paul II’s beagle Monsignor in June 1983, but the canine crime against art was immediately hushed up. ---

There are stories, whispered in the shadows, hushed conversations on street corners, that if Hillary had won the last election, then Tennessee would have declared its sovereignty, elected Reba McEntire as Queen, and set up high court in Nashville. Willie Nelson would be the U.N. ambassador of New Dixie. ---

Several attempts to create a 45 that could be flipped three times were all failures. Not only was the new triple single 45 a logistical geometric problem, the recording artists involved had to constantly worry about their third song being washed out into the ocean because it was on the “C” side. ---
