Milo Minderbender founded the Cotton Club in 1774 in Gloucester, Mass. The décor was Egyptian, with waiters dressed as Pharaohs and hors d’oeuvres served in tiny boats. Until the club was firmly established, entertainment was provided by the house band, Yosarian and the Catch 42s. ---

A Catch-42 is a bureaucratic situation where no matter what you do, things will always turn out in your favor exactly as you request/demand/require. This is quite common in an alternate universe where everything is the opposite of our own. ---

The phrase “lighting up a doobie” is completely misunderstood by today’s generation. It has nothing to do with a marijuana joint, but refers to the infamous Doobie Brothers’ after-party where John Hartman tried to set Michael McDonald on fire. ---
