Nine! I forgot pedescribe. Sorry dude.

I think the Predator vs Alien franchise is mercifully dead now, but I for one would pay good money to see Predator vs Poltergeist.

Given 9 unconfirmed and 3-4 mislynches left, we could always just lynch them in some order (alphabetic? :D) and let the scum do their thing until the player pool gets smaller. 😉

I’m betting on 2-3 scum left. We’ve had a fair number of power roles but so have they–and assuming the high side keeps us from getting complacent.

I disagree. A typical number for 25 is 5 scum, and for 27 is six. Given that all the scum have had power roles so far, but that we’ve only had about half of ours have power roles so far, I’m guessing there are 2 left, maybe 1.

Interesting, but there’s only one way to test it. If you’re wrong, it costs us a mislynch. It looks like we could afford that just now, but I’d rather still go for scum.

On which note:
I can see the case against **special ed** ; obsessively trying to side with known town is poor play, and I didn’t like his saving of MHaye.

**Brewha** I’ve been suspicious of for a while and I didn’t find his recent defence( that he wasn’t reading my posts in context when he built a sloppy case against me) to be very convincing. Reading back, the fact that JSexton defended him doesn’t look too good either.

\*\*Millit \*\*has been bugging me for a while; he’s become a lot more active since MHaye died; at least in his attacks on me he was following JSexton’s lead.

**zeriel** still isn’t posting very much; ditto **Nanook**.

\*\*Rapier \*\*I’m leaning more town on now, but that’s more gut plus absence of obvious scumminess than anything else. Similarly, I’ve long felt that \*\*Natlaw \*\*was acting pro-town, but I should probably check that before I do something stupid.
I’m also struck by the Day Four end votes:

Blaster Master (7): Natlaw, dotchan, Millit the Frail, brewha, JSexton, Hockey Monkey, Mhaye

Given that scum had a definite interest in lynching rather than NK-ing Blam, and that it did run close with Hal for a while, I think there’s a good chance that at least one of the unknowns is scum.

I’m going to hold back from voting just now, in the interests of maybe hearing more from people.

Since I did not make it clear in my previous [post](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showpost.php?p=10750095&postcount=19): I think any power roles (doctor, vigilante) should not worry about this too much and just keep using their powers. Scum could create a four player LyLo by simple not killing the Night before (if that is an option for them).

Millet and brewha seem to be under scrutiny at the moment so as I’ve already had some suspicions of millet I’ve done a bit of a read through. I’ll try and do brewha as well but I’m supposed to be working.

And crap - I just tried to post it and was told it was too long so I’ll break it up into two. Sorry - it’s a long one as the actress said to the elephant:

> Possibly, but again, I’m not sure why we want to know. I’m still thinking that a mass roleclaim is a great deal more likely to out power roles to scum than to out scum to town. Can someone who supports the roleclaim lay out a better case for it? If I see the logic, you could change my mind. It just seems really hasty, like the Masons claiming early.
>
> **I’m also wary of naming people in posts–those who are using powers will be using them on the most logical targets, and that will be easy to spot. For instance, the Dr. will protect the most likely scum targets (T_ownies who are “on to them”_), the Detective will investigate the scummiest looking players…very risky, IMHO**.

(bolding mine)

I brought this point up when she first posted it but this wording still seems very strange to me. Not only that, the whole post is basically disagreeing with name claims while calling them roleclaims while asking for reasons to claim while saying it might out power roles - no real solid opinions. I don’t get the being wary of naming people part either.

Vote number 9. Voting for scum at this point doesn’t make her scum certainly but there’s no town motivation there either. A null tell.

This post implies the scum were either not voting for macey or early voters who couldn’t reasonably get off the wagon. Excuses her late vote.

Again the implication is scum were among those not voting macey - convenient. Also a subtle smudge against me “voted Millet the Frail then quickly unvoted”. Actually I unvoted after she responded to my suspicions but hey, what’s a little smudge in mafia.

Firstly he wouldn’t have got a TRUE because story, while awesome, isn’t as far as I know able to divine intentions. The rest of this post is basically casting doubt on NAF’s claim without actually coming out and saying you don’t believe him.

This is not a proper town claim IMO so it was fairly safe to make it. You did reclaim on Day/Night Four but by then NAF had already said who he’d be investigating the next two Days so it was safe to do so as you planned on him being dead by then.

I worry that we may be letting power roles do all the work for us. :dubious: And we’re not even certain about their claims yet–there’s no way to know for sure who’s telling the truth and about what. >
> Just my 2 cents, as a non-confirmed townie.

It’s weird, you’ve been in and out the trusting NAF and Diggit camp yet you trust cookies. You can only trust cookies if you trust NAF. Or if you have another reason to have trusted her you should spell it out which you didn’t do here or previously. You make some new accusations. MHaye and JS are at the bottome of the list with Nanook, Hal and amrussel at the top. Your case against Nanook is for lurking, Hal for voting cookies. You mention amrussel as doing decent analysis (very different from your later post about him).

With MHaye you manage to say what he’s done does look suspicious but maybe there are reasons for it and he isn’t necessarily the scum investigator and Hal’s just trying to make MHaye look bad.

With JSexton - well he went after Pleo and Blam quite hard but that’s about it.

Both scum. Both somewhat protected by you.

> I’m trying to explore some new candidates, but yesterDay gives us a lot of data but few answers. I’ve already outlined my misgivings about voting **MHaye** , though I don’t think he’s getting a reprieve. Some thoughts, from my vote analysis:
>
> **Special ed** threw out a lot of “me too” votes yesterday and nailed the coffin shut on **Hal** …who was town. Changing your vote repeatedly to go the way the town is going strikes me as trying not to be held accountable for your votes. That’s mega-suspicious to me. **Special ed** is also a champion bandwagon jumper, voting for the “winner” every Day but Day 4, when he put in a last-minute and non-game-changing vote for 2nd-place **Hal**.
>
> **Brewha** would look really suspicious to me–he also made a crucial vote to swing things in **Hal** ’s direction–but I’ve still got strong townie feelings toward him from Day 1. I just can’t see scum bussing scum like that right out of the gate. It’s the same feeling that made me positive that **Cookies** was town, also back on Day 1. Scum would do anything for love…but they won’t do THAT. (_No, no, no they won’t do that!_)\*
>
> **Zeriel** : didn’t vote for _three days_, then voted and unvoted **Blaster** on Day 4. Votes **MHaye** early on Day 5, when he’s not really a top candidate. Leaves his vote there. Crikey - you accuse amrussel of poo flinging? Now you’re after Special Ed for me-too voting. Also your wording of your case against him is pretty extreme. He’s turned into a champion bandwagon jumper. While I don’t personally agree with voting alongside confirmed town unless I think their candidate is scummy, doing so isn’t necessarily a scum move, especially as two of those “bandwagons” were on scum. As for his voting Hal - he’s already said but I don’t think it’s been recognised that he made a case against Hal initially so wasn’t just bandwagon jumping in that instance.

Brewha you say made you suspicious but you get a “townie feeling” from him. So that’s one of the players garnering suspicion out of the way. Then you back up your reasoning by saying scum wouldn’t have voted for macey so early on in the game yet in one of the posts I’ve quoted above you say the exact opposite.

Changing your vote repeatedly to go the way the town is going strikes me as trying not to be held accountable for your votes. That’s mega-suspicious to me. Special ed is also a champion bandwagon jumper, voting for the “winner” every Day but Day 4, when he put in a last-minute and non-game-changing vote for 2nd-place Hal.”
>
> All of that still stands. But…now look at **special ed** ’s votes for **MHaye** :
>
> He voted **MHaye** on Day 5…RIGHT BEFORE MHaye’s roleclaim. Less than an hour, in fact. It was THE last vote before the claim. It was a safe vote, because he KNEW there was going to be a claim. And he did it to gain townie cred right before the big reveal. He changed his vote to **Hal** along with everyone else, also, and we know what happened there. He could have left it alone, because his vote didn’t change anything, but he couldn’t have a rollover vote in case we kept going after **MHaye** on Day 6.
>
> Then on Day 6, he changed his vote to **MHaye** later in the Day, when there was little to no prospect of him surviving the noose. This is bussing if I’ve ever seen it.
>
> AND…to top it all off, **MHaye** ’s final parting vote was a shot in special ed’s direction. Well-put-together and nicely reasoned, but also a complete throwaway. This is textbook Mafia-covering-Mafia behavior, and I DO think **MHaye** would pull it.
>
> Altogether, I hope we’re closing in on the scum, and I think this is our best bet for lightning to strike twice in a row. I’m not going with my gut; I’m reading the votes. It’s there.

Basically Mr Special Ed can’t do right for doing wrong. He votes MHaye before his claim, unvotes him afterwards and goes back to voting for him along with the confirmed town later on. The reasons you give him for doing so are very inventive though.

A few players who have strong townie cred with me have put out good arguments against **amrussell**. I can buy it. Something about his analyses has struck me as forced and smudgy. There’s definitely a poo-flinging quality to his style, as someone mentioned, and I can’t forget how he outed **Hockey Monkey**. That whole exchange was bizarre to say the least. He commented on how various players were scummy for jumping on bandwagons (including **MHaye** ), but then he voted **Hockey Monkey** for “blending in.” Not for lurking (there were much bigger lurkers in the game to go after) or for not voting (she missed one vote, but that’s not what he’s going on about), but for being careful. What?

So the Mr Special Ed bandwagon hasn’t worked and now you’re onto amrussel. You totally contradict your earlier assessment of him too - this has already been brought up by amrussell so I won’t go into details.

>
> Amrussell has a good point about me changing my tune on him. Those two statements were separated by a few days, and after reading more and more of his analysis, it all started to run together. It was probably a bad move on my part to let that influence my attitude toward him so strongly. I need to re-evaluate him big time, because he was right about JSexton all along. Amrussell and I use very different styles for trying to catch scum. Mine is all about the votes, and it hasn’t been working well yet this game, but I know there are other players who rely on voting records heavily also. (That’s why I put the spreadsheet together.) Whereas amrussell sifts through statements made and tried to find contradictions and changes in tone. Hey, it’s a valid method, and he actually caught a scum! Go amrussell!
>
> So basically my defense is that I was confusing different styles of play with different motives in the game. It’s crappy play, which doesn’t surprise me coming from myself :o but is not excusable. Sorry guys.

> Anyway, I’m still voting special ed. I know that he voted JSexton at a crucial time yesterDay, but saving him would have looked really bad when he turned up scum, and he wasn’t going to last another day. Is this really stretching it? I don’t think it makes him a townie to vote for a scum (yes, I’m banking on him doing it multiple times) when he’s up 4-2 at the very end of a Day and almost certainly going down.

You amaze me. You’d be looking at zeriel or Nanook. You’ve retracted your vote for amrussel now and you’re back to Mr Special Ed - well he’s garnered a bit of suspicion so it may actually work this time.

All in all, for the category of poo flinging champion of this game I think the shiny brown turd gong should be awarded to you. I’m tempted to reread your posts all over again and if there’s someone you haven’t mentioned in a negative light I’m going to guess they’re scum.

I’m impressed AH. That was quite a lot of digging you did there. And damn if the things you bring up don’t look amazingly suspicous when you lay them out next to each other like that. Millit’s been bugging me as well, for much the same reason as Natlaw, but there’s certainly a lot more meat to what you’ve brought up than to my more nuanced case.

Repeating the Mrs. part for amrussell ;). The other reason is I totally missed **Millit** s claim about having Alpha/Beta status (thus most likely vanilla town), even though I quoted her post right after.
**NAF** investigated **Cookies** as town Day Four and told us Night Five. NAF was confirmed Dawn Day Five by turning up dead. **Millit** s post you’re responding to here was from Day Five, so yes Cookies was pretty much confirmed at that point (unless Godfather or NAF had a failure rate, etc).

I’ll go read part two now :).

You’re right - my bad. The rest of my points stand but that particular post was made after NAF died - the perils of looking through a single person’s posts rather than the whole thread.

That were just a note for amrussell who called Millit a he and a note for myself, because I hadn’t notice that claim of Millit.
