As in, playing as if he were town.\* Instead of playing for **them**. The way I said it in my head made sense, with the emphasis on “us,” but I can see how it’s an awkward phrase. I’m not a genius, but I’m really not dumb enough to be a scum making a slip by referring to myself as one. 😛

\*Looking closer, he didn’t say specifically that he was playing as if he were on the town’s side, but his “Go Town” comment made me assume so.

That is, of course, if we really believe him.
