> If your vote is based off of the fact that I, a newbie, can’t tell that your multi-phase, 700-word idea boils down to “hey people, let’s vote in a mafia game,” then I guess I’ll just have to own that.

I couid describe how to click a mouse in 700 words.

Hi, my name is Askthepizzaguy. I’m glad to have met you. Perhaps you were simply unprepared, I suffer from a severe mental handicap.

Nothing is simple or brief in my universe. And it makes me stick out like a loud, sore thumb.

I want to assure you I have no hard feelings for you and that this is simply my standard operating procedure for when people poke at the pizza bear with a stick.

You and I must be seriously misunderstanding each other this game, then. I believed you were talking to or about me, as I was the only player to have an unvote on record at the time. I said I believed you were wrong, and you responded as if you were, indeed, talking to me:

>
> I’m still going to think it’s scummy if you unvote your nominee in the event of a tie. And I will vote you for it.
>
> Guidelines are guidelines. You go outside the lines as you see fit. I just ask that you justify going outside the lines. Swerving to avoid oncoming car, yes. Because I feel like it, no.

If I misread the situation, I apologize. However, I still believe you’re holding me (or some other hypothetical unvoter) to a different standard than you expect yourself to be held to. Even ignoring the rest of what I’ve said, you promise to vote for me if I don’t vote to lynch LightFoot, even if I’ve changed my mind about him. And I believe this conflicts with your current viewpoint.

Also, you’re correct: you didn’t explicitly call me dumb or scum. You did say I either deliberately or unintentionally lied and cherry-picked a bad argument, though, which is an implicit accusation of same. YMMV, and obviously does. No harm, no foul.

I can’t think of a game where serious misunderstandings between two perfectly normal but different people didn’t happen almost daily.

> I believed you were talking to or about me, as I was the only player to have an unvote on record at the time. I said I believed you were wrong, and you responded as if you were, indeed, talking to me:

Remember, I’m Askthepizzaguy. If you talk to me I talk back. And then, I am talking to you. But that doesn’t mean my previous posts were.

> [@](#):
>
> If I misread the situation, I apologize. However, I still believe you’re holding me (or some other hypothetical unvoter) to a different standard than you expect yourself to be held to.

No, because I could unvote Johnny Bravo right now and he wasn’t the lead candidate, nor was it the end of the round, nor was he my original nominee.

But that last one is rather spurious. I’d hold myself to the standard anyway because “original” nominee is just a dodge.

> [@](#):
>

If-

Lightfoot is the lead candidate at the end of the round.
Lightfoot swings.
Lightfoot is found scummy.

Then-

I will vote for you for unvoting her, because then it’s a stronger possibility that you were scum with her and you wanted credit for voting for her but didn’t want her to die for it.

I did say you deliberately or mistakenly misrepresented the context of what I was saying.

I left it on the table that it was mistaken, as is wont to happen in these situations.

I don’t think you’re scummy, but I will clarify what I said for you and correct any misinterpretation you have.

Me too.

I don’t suffer from self-unaware syndrome and I realize how I appear to the rest of you normal people.

I’m the one with a problem. So I get the humor. Subtle sarcasm is my main source of food.

Also Lightfoot identifies as a “she”.

**Vote Johnny Bravo**

And nominate him, too, if that is how it works. His squabbling with pizza is pinging me. don’t believe the frustration on his end is real. I do believe pizza’s is real, though, so I am not placing my vote there. For now, anyway.

Just to clarify the timeline.

1. I unvote LightFoot after nominating her that same round.
2. You say unvoting someone after nominating them that same round is bad or scummy.
3. 2 had nothing to do with 1
4. I argue the point because it’s a day one vote
5. You say you will vote for me if LightFoot swings scum
6. Either way, I must see my vote for LightFoot through. I must go “All in.”
7. But when it’s your suspicions, “betting heavy” is bad play.
8. If 7 is true, 6 is a pretty weird demand to make of me.

Which part of this did I get wrong?

Thanks. 🙂

Like I said earlier, my mistake has clearly been talking too much when I’m not really familiar with this game’s subtext and metathought process. There’s obviously a reason why most players are being fairly quiet and are commenting only sparingly.

Both approaches are fine. In general, if I haven’t been killed by a third-party on Night 2, I’m one of the top posters (by volume) pretty quickly.

There’s less to chat about on Day 1, so some of our more analytic players take a while to warm up. Once we’ve had some murders and such, it’ll pick up.

And then it’ll drop again, because we tend to lynch and night-kill the vocal. So maybe hanging back is the right strategy after all!

Meh, I can defend my first comment as a generalization (usually) and the second as pure conjecture (probably), with a little added humor, however given that you had but a single 2 word post to your name so far in the game I don’t see how you can take what I said as an accusation and think you are seriously overreacting to what could, at most, be construed as a poke.

Yes, that was me, I can appreciate people not being fond of the plan but I don’t see how that has any bearing on pizza’s alignment.

I don’t agree- a whiff of scum- might be vote worthy early on- but - if that player gains additional votes ( 'specially if you think some of the voters have shown signs of Scumminess ) I will unvote-

And for completeness’ sake here’s that 700 word article about how to click a mouse. Enjoy.
Before we begin, we should define our terms. The word “click” in this article refers to the act of placing a finger, usually the index finger, atop the top left portion of the peripheral device commonly known as a “mouse” where there is a button which can be depressed that when properly connected to the computer, and installed with the proper device drivers, sends a signal to the computer which indicates that the user wishes to select an item on the screen or monitor upon which the cursor is currently located. The cursor is usually an arrow or vertical line which is moved around on the screen by various user inputs such as mouse movements or arrow keys, however the cursor can change depending on the context or if the user alters the cursor’s visual parameters.

While it is possible to click a mouse without any positive result, for the best results you should refer to the manual that either came with the device or is installed digitally whenever the device is connected to the computer. For further help, please refer to the following article regarding how to install a PC computer mouse.

> **[How to Connect and Install a Computer Mouse](https://www.computerhope.com/issues/ch000448.htm)**
>
> Steps on how to connect and install a computer mouse on your computer and laptop.

If your mouse is still inside of the original packaging, you should carefully remove it. Often these packages are either boxes or plastic casings, and sometimes they are designed to discourage theft so you may need a set of strong scissors to remove the hard plastic casing, if applicable. If your mouse is of the wireless variety you will likely need to purchase batteries, because the ones that came with the mouse, if any, are total crap. Usually produced in some Chinese sweatshop, where the workers are forced to endure 18 hour shifts without bathroom breaks, these batteries while painstakingly constructed by only the best child laborers in the world, are still not the best. For the really good batteries, you have to go with a Korean sweatshop. Or if you’re not feeling cheap, you can get some really bad batteries made in the USA by well-paid adults. It’s the morally conscious thing to do. But now that I think about it, families that work in those sweatshops depend on these jobs, and it’s a morally complicated issue. While this author feels it best that they continue to be employed, it would seem clear that better working conditions would be appropriate. Perhaps this is something better handled in another article. However, given the obvious utility of an article dedicated to teaching people how to perform the click function of a mouse, I decided it might be better to err on the side of being thorough.

Once your mouse has been removed from the packaging, you’ll notice that it either has a wire with a USB connection on the end, or PS/2 port. For more information about these ports, see the above linked article. These ports are commonly found on all PC computers. If you have a laptop, you likely have the USB connection. If you have found that you’ve purchased a mouse with the wrong type of connection, you can usually return it to the store for store credit. Please refer to the store’s return policy (Not located in this article. Sadly, we have to make the cutoff somewhere).

Simply place the connector into the appropriate port on your computer. Make sure your computer has power and then turn it on. This article assumes that your computer came with an operating system pre-installed, due to the stranglehold that Microsoft has on the world of PC computing. However, if you wish to fight the corporate facists, you can install a different, competing, and infinitely superior operating system that only us geeks would ever dream of installing, the benefits of which are only apparent to us. For you normies, you can probably settle for Windows, but it still makes my teeth bleed. Once your computer is powered up and your operating system has loaded, the mouse will usually install itself with the proper drivers. Some mice will still come with a cd that installs it to your computer. Please refer to the manual that came with that mouse, because obviously your mouse is an ancient piece of crap if that is still the case.

Now that your mouse is installed, you should check for updates to the driver by logging on to the internet (consult your internet provider for more information on that) and surfing the web (hint: use the google) and find an update for the driver simply by typing in the model number and manufacturer and typing in the words “driver update” and following the instructions on the links provided. No, not those links. Those take you to adult websites, and I simply don’t have the time to… no, you have to click the back button now. They’re asking you for your credit card information, and I really do not recommend- you just charged 125.99 to your credit card for “Big Bazungas 12- the hunt for even bigger Bazungas.”

Congratulations. You have just learned how to successfully click your mouse, you sick pervert.
Also, I realize I went over the word count by a few. What’s 140 words between friends?

By itself, the fact that Chucara’s lead was followed doesn’t mean I should vote for Chucara, that’s true. What made me vote for Chucara as opposed to any of the other baseless votes I’ve seen is that, at the time, orthohedron was in deep.

> [@](#):
>
> Finally, where do you get that \*\*orthohedron \*\*has “come too close to the block”? He was never the vote leader at any point, and in any case there are still over 6 full days to go before EoD. He was never in any danger.

That’s simply not true. He was tied for first with 3 votes when Astral posted his statistics, though he had lost his lead with two votes for Chucara the next morning. I believe he was still in 2nd place, 5 to 3, when I voted. I added to that vote because I believe that Chucara is a better lynch than orthohedron and, IMHO, more likely to be Scum.

It is true that there is still quite some time before EOD, which is why I’m not locking in my vote or anything. I’m just stating that I believe Chucara is more likely to be Scum than any of the other people who have stood out to me, and showing that view with my vote.

> [@gnarlycharlie](#):
>
> aside from **Suburban** ’s point about opportunism, i also don’t like how you have twisted **Pizza** ’s words. he might well be scum but he has stated that these are guidelines. calling them rules misrepresents **Pizza**.

Call them guidelines, rules, laws, or doodlefluffers for all I care. If people are going to decide to lynch someone based on them, you can be damn sure that they’ll have an impact on the way the game is played. And IMHO its not a good impact.

>
> I’m betting a vote. I didn’t build a fancy ass case nor would I be unpersuadable. I’m just saying going by instincts alone, that vote is worth placing. We’ll see if the midichlorians have it right in due course.

That’s absolutely fine, and exactly what I did with regards to Chucara. The difference is I didn’t Nominate him. If I had, and later realized that I found it more likely that someone else was Scum, or decided that I’d rather vote for one of two other people who are both distant leads, or if Chucara claims in a way I find believable after the end of Phase 1, I’m not going to hesitate about switching my vote. But by your logic, that makes me Scummy.

The way I interpreted your nomination, I took it to mean that it would require a higher burden than a simple vote to remove. If I am mistaken about that, then I will unvote you. I did not find you suspicion Scummy in and of itself, only the implied (higher level of) conviction that comes with a nomination.

Personally I wasn’t aware there was another way of playing.

For the record, I think **Guiri** ’s smudging of yours truly came in his early post where he noticed I was the only person who didn’t check in (though I had, just with the alternate PM method, but of course he couldn’t have known that) and wondered if this meant I was scum again–specifically referring to our last game together. Which makes it odd that he then decries the idea of having past play behavior influence current mindsets.

Might’ve been a joke, but then once I _did_ check in, he voted me almost immediately because, basically, pancakes. 😃 Oh, he gave some reasons–apparently I responded too soon, like an hour after he posted my name, and that’s a Big No-No.

Anyway it’s early days yet. It’s all smoke and mirrors. And pancakes.

I have to admit I’m really lost on the nominating vs. voting concept, which isn’t helped by a raging headache that makes me loath to read back 400 posts to figure this out. For example, **Astral** lists me as having nominated and voted **Guiri** , but all I did was vote him. Is a vote automatically a nomination? And if so, why are they two different things? If they _are_ different, why am I listed as having nominated the guy when all I did was vote him?

They’re not different. A vote is a nomination, since we’re “nominating” people for the lynch. I just wanted a clear way to distinguish between people who had nominated but NOT voted.
