> No, I’m not missing what you believe to be the strength of the system, I just disagree with you. In the scenario I outlined, I would only believe Y and Z to be Scum IF X is scum. So I need that piece of information before I would place a vote on them. It’s rare that I find two or more players individually suspicious enough to warrant a vote (I won’t rule it out, but it is rare).

I think we’re violently agreeing here.

> Additionally the voting record is one of the best ways we have of looking back for potential patterns of behavior to catch Scum. I’m yet to be convinced that having multiple votes doesn’t muddy the waters and/or make analysis of voting patterns exceptionally difficult.

And we half agree here. I too think the voting record is the best way to look for scummy patterns. But I think that multi-voting improves the usefulness of the voting record. Certainly much more useful than reading through posts to ferret out suspicions, accusations, FOS’s, etc.

I haven’t commented much on **pizza** ’s plan, but I need to say I agree with what they say here.

Either follow the plan or don’t, talk about it or not, but raising suspicions because of it anti-town. That is, differences in play style don’t imply differences in alignment.

> Oh, scum doesn’t want to get caught up in the whole nomination process, especially when Detectives will come in with results in phase 2? Simply log off for a couple of days. Now there’s no messy contradictions to worry about.

The thing is, is that that sort of behavior will be figured out. It may help in the short term, but lack of posts at certain critical times will be apparent after a while.

It’s just be worried about scum changing the lynch with last minutes votes. Let them, I say. We’ll all see what happened and we’ll get them next.

**Johnny** is pinging my suspicions, too. But at this point I’m chalking it up to newbieness. As a meta-policy, I think it better not to lynch newbies on Day One. They need a higher threshold to earn a vote on Day One. So I’m still holding **Johnny** ’s arguments against them, but it doesn’t rise to the level of a vote.

Compare this to **ortho** and their ill-thought vote. It’s a mistake, but it screams townie mistake to me.

This post makes me more suspicious of you.

I don’t see **pizza** as doing anything more than advocating we play the game. Note than I am not a fan of the Plan and am not following it. But there is nothing suspicious about its suggestions.

LOL. I positively loved that I’m being voted for my EARLY Day One vote with the stated reason of ‘pancakes’.

Yes… My clever and devious scum plan was to deceive you all with my delicious sugary treats. MWHAHAHAHA!!

Yes, my vote on Orthohedron was random. But this is day one. I like to put out a pressure vote here and there. The lack of response however is enough to leave my vote there (given that I have more than one this time).

However, my joke vote apparently also was a weak excuse for lazy players to put down a vote. And if there’s one thing scum loves - it’s lazy votes.

I’ll try to limit the OMGUS to the one player of those voting me that stood out:

**vote Babale**

Babale voted for me for voting for someone in the lead (actually only had 1 vote at the time) at a time when the Chucara bandwagon was gaining speed.

Still looking for further candidates… If nothing pops up, I will probably start voting for people who aren’t participating.

I also keep thinking Chronos is in this game.

And that makes me think of his vote calculation program thingy. If we use that and pizzaplan2013, it’d be quite the experiment.

I didn’t vote for you for voting for someone who is in the lead, I voted for you for using terrible reasoning to vote for someone who didn’t seem (to me) to be Scummy, without even trying to make a case, even though others have already started making legitimate cases for their votes. Did you even read my post?

Babale: I did read your post. And it doesn’t make much sense to me. Yes, my JOKE VOTE was terribly reasoned. But not nearly as terribly reasoned as “Chucara is more likely to be scum than anyone else” based on what?

- Based on Pizza voting AFTER me. Now for me to be scum because of this, both Pizza and I would have to be scum. And we’d have to be secretly plotting on day one to all jump on Ort. I would go as far as to say that this is impossible.
- Based on my ‘pancakes’ vote. Please tell me how the brilliant plan of voting with a reason of ‘pancakes’ would possibly be a viable scum ploy? What possible scum motivation could there be behind as idiotic a reason as ‘pancakes’.
- Based on voting for the lynch leader. With 6 days until deadline. With 2/3 of the players not having voted yet. As a 3rd vote (I actually thought it was a 2nd vote, I haven’t checked)

I think your vote on me is easy, and lazy. It’s day one, so many players jump at any excuse they get to vote, scum in particular - I’m not convinced you’re scum just yet, but if you’re town, I simply see no reason in why you are voting for me.

Its not lazy; its a gut feeling. I don’t like the way you voted, so I called you out on it. Its not a perfect vote, but at the moment, I don’t have any better suspects. Trust me, the moment I get one, I’ll switch over.

I don’t see why you think I’m being lazy though. Its not like it was a drive-by vote, where I voted for you and didn’t show up again until EoD. And I’m still looking for better suspects.

Speaking of which, I don’t know what to think about Pizza anymore. I still don’t like his plan, but I don’t think I should hold that against him. Its entirely possible he’s Town and just came up with a plan I don’t like. And he did explain his reasoning for his vote. I guess if nominations are practically synonymous with votes, I can’t blame him for a weak nomination. So for now,

**Unvote Askthepizzaguy**.

I believe Pizza first conceived the plan at the end of the last game on the Giraffe. The game had ended, and he was scum.

Not that I think it matters at all.

**unvote Babale**

I’m actually quite pleased with your reaction to my vote. Or.. at least it doesn’t strike me as scummy. I still don’t agree or see your reasoning, but I’m used to drawing attention on day one, so no worries.

I’ll ponder my next move for a while.

Consider me cowed. Apparently I completely misinterpreted or misunderstood ThePlan as being a significant departure from the normal state of affairs. I’ll just lurk for a while and try to avoid further implicating myself.

It was a Chrome extension, but I suppose it could just easily be written as a GM script, making it available for FF users. The original thread is here: [Mafia players: SD Mafia Tools (Chrome extension) - The Game Room - Straight Dope Message Board](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=633629)

I did manage to recover my latest version, which might be slightly newer than what’s posted in that thread, but it uses an outdated manifest structure that Chrome no longer supports, so I’ll have to re-write it at some point. If there’s interest in collaboration, I could upload the source to a public git repo or something.

I have trouble telling the difference between a “hey look at this guy who is scummy - you should all vote for him, while I myself will not so I can later claim to have not voted to lynch a Townie” and a legitimate simple askance look that doesn’t warrant a vote. when I’m not sure, I assume the worst. it’s also early on Day 1…

have we ever had a game with both **Pizza** and **Meeko** playing at the same time?

> [@Johnny\_Bravo](#):
>
> Okay, noted, but help me understand why my backing down is ridiculous but not the people above mentioned.

this early in the game, and even to some extent throughout, you’ll find that it is sometimes impossible to shake off a determined vote - I’ve seen players make legitimate power role claims to try to save their own skin, only to have someone point out that the claim actually damages town in the long run (which was a legitimate point in that case, if I recall correctly) and a enough voters used that as a new reason to leave their vote in place, leading to an eventual lynch. welcome to mafia!

(oog - I’ve only played the BSG board game two or three times, but enjoyed it)

I think you are way over-estimating town’s abilities if you think they are alert and are comparing them to competent drivers. I certainly agree that it is important for everyone to be on record, but it seems in recent games that town is reluctant to enforce this. Scum lurk because lurking works.

I already hated Diggit’s vote on Ortho for being new, and when you and Pizza piled on, it went over the top. I did not vote Pizza for randomly voting RedSk. It was not solely the randomness of your vote, but the randomness on a new player who is traditionally an easy lynch target.

So I am lynch vote worthy because I said nothing in response to the pancake joke. I actually let that go because everyone else was so vocal in calling that out on how random and arbitrary it was.

Outside of waving the noob flag and dropping a dumb meme reference here and there to establish my presence early in the game, I really have just been remaining quiet as far as substantial things go and waiting for the dust to settle over the Pizza Plan debate. I wanted to get a sense of who is talking about what before I formed any opinions. If you are in need of a response **Chucara** , here it goes. I am Town I am not Scum.

Although I’ve made it clear that I’ve no experience with this game blah, blah, blah, I do understand what’s been written so far. For the record I am anti Pizza Plan for reasons mathematically outlined by RedSk prior to this post. No offense to Pizzaguy intended, I believe that his plan was offered to the town in good faith.

I **unvote Wombat99**.

You have earned my **vote Chucara**. I don’t even eat pancakes that often… I’m more of a sausage omelette with onion and green peppers kind of guy.

Thank you to those who aren’t jumping on the lynch orthohedron train, also internet high five **Johnny Bravo**!

> Multi-votes do not cancel out. Each player voted for is a player they want to see lynched. And each vote pushes a player closer to being lynched. I am not sure if the first is SPAM or Fluff.

The second shoots yourself in the foot.

Third, players can avoid accountability in multiple ways;

A. The player can stir the pot as per his playstyle. CF Peeker being Peeker.
B. The player can stir the pot as his role dictates. I rejected an offer to join Town in a recent game. I had my reasons, and they were arguably more pro town than joining town was at my first offer. The ends justify the means, and if players can delay long enough, it will be too late.
C. Also. We need to remember that the main part of this game, is people with more information working together to disguise things from other people. The fear here, is that those that need to fabricate will be able to do so convincingly, and that those that can’t fabricate will be misread. This seems to be a pressure cooker on the innocent.

D. I’m willing to bet, that most accountability is dodged with a compilation of A B and C.

**VOTE PLEONAST**

Your discourse here is a proxy to your habit of claiming on day one.

You wrongly simplify the game and move it to a point that causes players to make the wrong conclusions and assumptions. In this case, you just wrote the entire “How to water board vanilla townies until they are (mis)lynched” manual here.

There is nothing here that scum can best vanilla townies in, if they are on the business end of this.
**VOTE PIZZA**
Yours is the exact same as Pleomasts’ but it has needless random thrown in over the top.

Also, it’s guilty until proven innocent. Innocents will die here.
\*\* I believe the core of Mafia is revealed when scum slip. When there is time to orchestrate, they have time to edit and remove slips, either in a private rehearsal, or in a rehearsals in an off board.\*\*

Pleonast’s lets scum escape at every chance they create.

Pizza’s lets scum pack their bags, tidy up the house, let the dog out, walk to the car, warm it up and drive at the speed limit out of the subdivision before the police can get to their patrol car.

Can I own this too?

Devils advocate here:

Assume pizza’s plan works.

How much of it ““works”” on day one?

That is to say the “” strategy “” here is decidedly end game and doesn’t do much of anything in the opening. If anything, it will again lynch townies.

Now you’re just being a dick.

I’m finding some of the infighting (for lack of better words) going on quite amusing. The Pizza vs Johny is amusing, but I’m just taking the direction of ignoring Pizza for now until I get a better read of him.

Johny I think he’s getting a good handle on the game, and I like how he’s tunneling on one player so early in the game. I’m keeping an eye on this argument, and seeing where it goes.

Now onto the Guiri vs Fubble as I quoted above…Fubble you seem to really get defensive here…I didn’t see Guiri being overly abusive here? Why are you so upset about?..

I think I want to start with

Seriously? Do you think I’ve been obsessed with choie? I was playing on her exaggeration, responding with hyperbole:

> [@choie](#):
>
> […]and **Guiri** mentioned me not once, but twice (and that’s another thing, why is **Guiri** so fixated on me?)

To which I replied, in a post where I addressed multiple players:

> **Choie** , I’m sorry for being obsessed with you, this is now my third post in which I mention your name, it must suck being stalked and scum. If your style as scum is to sit back and twiddle your thumbs while others do all the legwork, keep it up.

And this, continuing the hyperbole, was a preface to my response to her vote, along with comments to several other players:

> [@GuiriEnEspana](#):
>
> [continues obsession with choie]

Or are you just joking with me and I’ve been whooshed?
