[oog]
I’ve read the stuff from toDay and toNight, but I am unable to provide any clear and cogent thought. I have been at work for over 15 hours now, working with our New York team to roll a huge fundraising site for the US Olympic Team that debuts tomorrow on the Today Show. I am located in Kansas City, but was asked to stay at the office to provide any needed support. We are in the final stages of rolling to production, so hopefully I’ll be able to go home and get some sleep soon.
[/oog]

**Astral** , I’m sorry to see you get mislynched. I hope we can use your sacrifice properly and nail the Scum.

Sorry **Astral** , hope you have fun helping **pizzamod**.

I did ask\*\* pizzamod\*\* the question as to what happens when you get to zero HP and you do die. That’s why I attacked Lord Phere and not another player.

I find it interesting that **Visorslash** has been attacked and healed, I wonder if Town are attacking him and scum are healing him just so that he can be the focus of yet another Day?

I have delegated this task to BobArrgh, seeing as I know nothing about computer programming.

Speaking of Bob, he was on my list to review. I had some doubts about him but thiss post seems very Townie to me:

> [@BobArrgh](#):
>
> I didn’t want to say why I protected **Glee** because doing so will expose my Elemental alignment. I’m not at all sure what the Elemental alignment means, but I was trying to avoid giving away that piece of information until I knew more about it. However, since it seems to be such a huge freaking deal to everyone, I’ll just say it.
>
> I am a Townie with an Elemental alignment of Water. I have a blue item. Since **Glee** had a blue item, I inferred that he and I were of the same alignment. I protected him on D1 because I thought that he and I had an affinity through our Elemental alignment. I also wanted to see what using my Guard ability did.
>
> I still don’t know what the Elemental alignment means. I was (probably naively) assuming that birds of a feather have the same Elemental alignment. That is, if I am Water and Town and I find another Water person, then that person is also Town. I am basically interpreting the Elemental alignment as a sort-of Masonry.
>
> Exposing my Elemental alignment now opens me up to an Elemental-type attack.
>
> To show that I’m not pulling this out of a nether orifice, in post #179 I mentioned “Water” twice. Also, in post #647, I also alluded to my Elemental alignment when I said, “ **What’re** you getting at?”

> I’m sure I have made a lot of newbie-type assumptions regarding the Elemental alignment, but this is my first DnD style game I have ever played, so I’m not sure how it all works.

I can’t think of a reason why he would protect glee as Scum, and not want to say it.

Realitytrip: scum lean

Nothing here.

>

>
> **Astral Rejection** was a quick target and is now drawing more attention for his vote jump. I find **BobArrgh** ’s argument regarding the fact that scum would be very aware of when the day ends convincing and I don’t think AR is scum (for the moment…)

> So, I can’t really go with any of the wagons. There have been a lot of non contributors so far (including me, I know), but the one poster that has caught my eye is **Mahaloth**. He posted a vote for **Visorslash** and nothing else, which drew attention from **Silver Jan** and **Normal Phase**. His explanation was “I agree with what has been said previously.” The matter was then inexplicably dropped. Now I know it’s day one and there is not much to go on…but I find it hard to believe this vote has been ignored for this long.
>
> **Vote: Mahaloth**

What other players/previous games? Visorslash is new here.

Why pick on Mahaloth? This seems like a vote just to have a vote, safely away from any wagons.

That’s it for Day 1.

> [@realitytrip](#):
>
> Wow. Just wow. From ATPG’s setup, I knew there would be some hidden powers, but this seems pretty ridiculously strong. There were a total of 5 added votes? Even if the Demon Lord 3 shot was a one time deal, the town will have to win by 3 votes during the day to prevent any voting shenanigans.
>
> Still processing…

I don’t like this, and I find it hard to say why. Maybe because he seems to know what is going on here, and be able to assess it and place it with just one post. He does seem surprised by the power though, so that’s good.

> [@realitytrip](#):
>

You have a Town lean on Visorslash, so why question Inner? SO few posts, and this is what he comments on.

> [@realitytrip](#):
>
> Hmmm…a lot to think about here. At least for me. I know it’s early in the day, but there has been a lot of focus on the items, which may or may not be valuable to most players (obviously if there is a 3rd party with the winning condition to have the most items, that is a different story to them). For my part, I am more than willing to give my vote(s) away to the people that lean town the most to me.
>
> But I am concerned about the night actions, most of all. There was a lot going on. Visorslash and PetW were attacked by other players. PetW deflected his attack. So he was somehow protected…PetW, do you have a special item or do you think someone may have protected you?
>
> Either way, that is at least two players with night attacks.

> And then the two kills. One was in battle, which would seem to me to be like a normal scum night kill. The other was slain by magic. Could it be a vig kill, where the vig gains “control” of the demon lord for a night kill? Or a possible one shot extra kill? Town? PFK?
>
> Thoughts? It would be nice as a collective town to come up with an idea of some of the powers floating around…

‘Collective town’ really pings me here. Also don’t like the PR hunting on PetW. Actually that question about Inner Stickler protecting Visorslash could also be seen that way.

The first part of the post is talking about items, and how they aren’t important, so why talk about them?

> [@realitytrip](#):
>
> Damn. There goes my (admittedly small) hope that the triple vote was a one time power. Why is it public on day 2 though? Is it a limitation on the power or is it at the discretion of the user? 😕

Safe, meaningless questions.

Why on earth would the traitor help lynch someone who is gathering votes and suspicion all on his own? I am tempted to vote for Astral, who likes smudging me, but I still have my doubts as to whether scum would get the timing of end of day so wrong on day one, so I am still hedging on him being town.
>
> My day one vote was for Mahaloth, but it looks like he has pretty good out of game reasons for his non-participation, and he may be subbed out, so I need to do some more analysis tonight.

The part about Astral reads as confused. The traitor helping to lynch someone would imply that person was Town, but then he is tempted to vote Astral. Doesn’t make sense.

> [@realitytrip](#):
>
> So let me get this straight. We have to commit to a bandwagon, but when we do with a halfhearted reason because we are told to choose a wagon dammit, well we’re scum. If we want to pick someone new, we had better have a damn good reason, because otherwise we are just wasting our vote and avoiding responsibility and are scum. I am with Gadarene…yes we need to be suspicious, but more people are town than not, jumping down each other’s throats at the slightest thing is not helping cooperation.

> Vote: Normal Phase
>
> Oh and for good measure
> Unvote Blue Pendant to Normal Phase
> Vote Blue Pendant to Silver Jan]

Here he says he found Astral suspicious initially, but he actually defended him Day 1.

All the aggro, the reason for it, seems to me like Scum reacting to a bad case. Cos they get suspected no matter what they do, and it’s so unfair.

I do think Normal wants to have her cake and eat it too. You can’t get band wagons, and also get everyone voting for their strongest Scum lean, with a nicely laid out case. That’s not the way wagons work. There is a tension between wanting a wagon, and wanting Scum to not have a place to hide that makes wagoning tricky.

It’s not totally WIFOM, though, because other people have seen Normal play Scum and Town, and might have opinions on whether she plays them differently.

The one time I have seen Normal as Scum, she was way more subdued than she was as Town, but I think she had RL issues at the time. Still, I don’t see her playing Town leader quite so vociferously as she is this game.

**Guiri** apears to have protected **Inner Stickler** on Day 1, taking 50 HP damage in the process (from Lord Phere, if I’m reading the color correctly)

**fubbleskag** was attacked by “a glittering bolt of energy”, which you seem to have blocked completely.
So, taking you at your word…

You can block ‘magic’ attacks, and you do not suffer damage as a result, as we saw with several folks on Day 1 (see Guiri, above).

Your protection does not prevent damage that another person receives while they are in turn protecting a third person. Guiri still received damage (redirected from Inner) even though you were protecting him. Another possibility is that Guiri’s damage was physical (the color is not clear on this), and your protection only extends to magic.

I don’t know if this helps us at all, but there it is…

So we should disregard it?

Sure, it’s WIFOM. So is everything else besides Death reveals, (and with Pizza as a mod I’m not even sure we can trust those).

Why do you think we’d be better off ignoring the triple votes? And I don’t believe we know that it’s “a triple voter”. It could be a group of people voting as a bloc, it could be a collective Sum (or other faction) power, or it could be some other game-mechanic based on a trigger we haven’t yet discovered.

@ SP – I was told explicitly (once I asked) that I could never have done anything to prevent Guiri’s injury on day one, since he was never attacked. This is what I was referring to yesterDay when I said I had reason to believe I knew what the order of events was in the write-up. Protections don’t keep people from the folly of their own actions, in other words.

He is new **here**. As am I (at least as far as mafia is concerned). He is not new to mafia and here I am specifically referring to a post by Normal Phase where she specifically mentions he is like this in every game they have played.

> [@](#):
>
> Why pick on Mahaloth? This seems like a vote just to have a vote, safely away from any wagons.

As I said in the very post you are referring to, I didn’t like any of the wagons. So that means I have to find someone else to target, doesn’t it?

> [@](#):

This is just willful misreading of my post. I said the items probably weren’t important **as a winning condition** (to most players). Of course items are valuable, especially if they protect you from attacks. And forgive me for wanting to find out what items do. I thought the goal of town players was to gather information.

Hey, here’s something you may have missed. Day 1 in realtime was **several days**. I did initially find Astral suspicious, but, hey, I changed my mind over the course of the Day. Astral posted a LOT and the tone of his initial posts rubbed me the wrong way but as the day went on, he just seemed more and more town to me. As for the voting, I didn’t really think Astral was scum, but I felt there was a greater chance he could be scum than some other people who could be a target of last minute hidden votes which would tilt the lynch. Ultimately, I still cast (or should I say miscast:smack:) my vote elsewhere.

middle of day two

Why on earth would the traitor help lynch someone who is gathering votes and suspicion all on his own? I am tempted to vote for Astral, who likes smudging me, but I still have my doubts as to whether scum would get the timing of end of day so wrong on day one, so I am still hedging on him being town.

More or less OK so far IMO. The next one’s the problem – late day two.

Weedy’s right to flag this. There’s nowhere in the game at all that you said anything to indicate you were leaning scum on Astral (much the opposite), and your first post (“starting off” explicitly denied suspicion. This just isn’t right.

The other thing:

> Wow.

Weedy gives points for surprise, but look at it – he calls out _five_ added votes, not just three. The surprise could have been from that. And yet when it comes to the town’s need to prevent against vote shenanigans, what number does he use? THREE. Not five. I’m pretty sure that most of those who were commenting on this did tend to lump all five votes together as potentially suspicious, because I know it was driving me crazy at the time trying to keep my mouth shut on my own little bit of PIS about that. Yet realitytrip only worries about the town needing to cover for the THREE. Not mine or Visorslash’s. I think that may actually be PIS on his part.

@ **Gadarene** : What is your impression of Weedy as a **town** player?
