About 24 hours until the end of the Day. Only posts with time stamps strictly before 12 noon PT tomorrow will be in Day One. This goes for votes and powers.

If you have a question about the rules, please read through my posts in this thread, since it’s quite possible I have already addressed your question.

I’ll post a vote count in the mid afternoon.

No value in my claim? So a possible Loyal Hacker has no value?

If you have that outlook, why not vote to lynch any claim? After all, no value in them, right?

> NETA to fluiddruids "Why do you think Idle is claiming if he’s scum? " - as I mentioned before, precisely because of the “don’t lynch a claimed power role!” argument you’re making (and Idle pushing it doesn’t make me feel better about him either).

> [@glowacks](#):
>
> There’s a difference between a weak reason and absolutely no reason at all. You’ve pretty much said that you know the reason you’re voting for them is completely unreasonable, yet you’re happy with it. You _should_ be immediately changing your vote upon learning the information, or at least giving additional reasons why the behavior is still questionable. Instead you continue to act like the fact that it’s questionable behavior has already been assumed. You even unvoted one person so it’s not because you’re not paying attention!
>
> You’re right, it means absolutely nothing. Anyone can claim it, can’t possibly be counter-claimed, and proving you’re a hacker not only uses up any power you have but doesn’t prove anything about whether you’re Loyal. If it is true, you’re a better potential target for scum.

> [@Stanislaus](#):
>
> Idle Thoughts: I’m less inclined to believe this claim. As he pointed out, he had three votes on him, which made him the vote leader. So there’s a certain amount of pressure there. We’ve already got one Town power-role claim on the table, which our officer-roles may or may not be factoring into their plans of action. Adding another one complicates their decision process unneccessarily. Secondly, Idle hammers his claim for all he’s worth:
>
>
>
> So, mind telling me why you’re still suspicious of me in light of my claim, Natlaw? What, you think I’m a disloyal Hacker?
Surely you think a Hacker is a pretty useful role for Town to have, if I’m telling the truth?

So I guess the fact that I could really be a Town Hacker means nothing.
As noted, claiming Hacker doesn’t make you more likely to be Loyal than just claiming Loyal. But Idle’s using the threat of our losing his powers to drive away suspicion of him. It comes across as an attempt to push buttons that frankly, didn’t need to pushed. It’s possible to talk your way out of votes, rather than reach for the claim immediately. And from a self-preservation point of view, claiming a power-role in a game with no Doc doesn’t actually increase your life expectancy terribly far if you are Town. (And in the last quote, the wording of “the fact that I could really be a Town Hacker” seems a little off. Shouldn’t it be the fact that “I am really a Town Hacker”?)
I agree with Natlaw, Glowacks and Stanislaus: **Vote Idle Thoughts** 6/10

**Vote Mahaloth** - Lots of conversation during the Doctor Dance discussion, then dropped off the map except to pop up and vote. I also don’t give a lot of weight to his justification of his vote on Peek. That may be because I have very little sense of anyone’s posting style from prior games or around the board in general, but that seems like a lot to base a vote on, with no other reasoning listed. 4/10

I’m leaning toward **Hal Briston** and **Drain Bead** to round it out to 4, but I’m waiting to hear more from Hal, as promised, and I expect that the other votes on Drain will motivate him(her?) to

As I’ve already said TWICE now, **that is wrong.**
You, in thinking that, are wrong.

I didn’t vote for Peeker for that reason.
I voted for Peeker (this is the third time I’m saying this, mind you, so I hope I don’t have to say it again), for VOTING FOR NON-EXISTENT PLAYERS TWICE.
Is that any more clear now?

So kindly please attributing me voting for Peeker for not voting all four votes at once. That is wrong. I don’t know how more clearly I can say it. English is your first language, right?

So it’s now:

> I’m voting for you for voting for people not in the game and seeming to, for some reason, be sneaky so you don’t have to make a fourth vote. **Twice you tried to vote for someone not in the game.** That is what I’m voting for you for (the bolded part). Which, on Day One, is as good of a reason as any..

So you vote him for a joke vote and a test vote. I find that a weaker reason than why I voted peeker: he let three valid, but test votes stand and then made them count when he placed a fourth valid vote on you (two posts after you vote him).

What’s your point? It doesn’t change the fact he tried to vote for players not in the game, twice. And since I had nothing else to go on at the time, seemed “trying to shuck a ‘real’ fourth vote” was a good enough reason.

So mind explaining the first part of your post? The part I still don’t understand (which is the reason you’re voting for me, apparently).

**vote fubbleskag** 3/10 confidence.
Admitting that your votes are weak or border-line “me too” a) doesn’t make them less so and b) looks like you’re trying to duck responsibility for them pre-emptively.

Also the non-“me too” votes (NAF and peeker) come with little reasoning, and that odd. In what way is NAF too combative. How is peeker disrupting the thread? He seems to have picked up votes for disrupting it a lot less than usual.

I’m also going to vote TexCat. This is a “curious incident of the dog in the night-time” post:

With 24 hours to go, our captain has barely said a word about arrest warrants. This is a little suspicious but what really bothers me is that our Chief of Security isn’t agitating on this point. He’s got a vote against the Captain, but that’s based on Hal’s own votes. TexCat has barely mentioned his own role. It smacks to me of someone who’s more interested in keeping a low profile than in making sure Town is on the ball.

**vote TexCat** 3/10 confidence

\*\*
vote Mahaloth\*\* 4/10 confidence

Of these four votes, two are following other people’s lead (Hal and Idle) and one is self-contradictory. The reasoning for all of them is curt to say the least, and Mahaloth doesn’t seem to have been interested in provoking responses from people It’s very much a fly-in, fly-out post which can make it hard for people to engage or defend themselves.

What really troubles me is the vote for glowacks. Maha demands that people consider motives - but omits to suggest what glowacks motive for his “suspect” post is. I can’t think of a reason for scum to announce that they’ll be avoiding consideration of motive when voting, and if Maha can he hasn’t shared it with us. I think that this shows Maha was more interested in finding some sort of a hook for his necessary four votes than in trying to find scum-motivated players to vote for.

So to sum up, I’m voting:

**Idle Thoughts** for using his unneccessary claim to scare off votes and suspicion;
\*\*Mahaloth \*\*for under-explained and contradictory votes;
\*\*TexCat \*\*for not being proactive about using his role in Town’s best interests;
**fubbleskag** for poorly reasoned and me-too votes.

When you voted peeker and Red Skeezix you voted them “for the same reason” - your own words. No you say you didn’t vote them for the same reason.

I think I got into a nitpick argument with you at a game on your forum - ah found it, Space Hijack and you were town there.

Which part do you not understand? My original reason to vote for you or the part where your claim doesn’t change that reason at all?

At this point I’m feeling my fluiddruid vote more and I’m considering unvoting Drain Bead and Idle for anyone with only a few votes to make that clear (but we haven’t even broken the lynch threshold yet).

**fubbleskag** (1) \<= Stanislaus.

With 16 players eligible to vote, 8 votes are needed to space. With these votes, no one will be spaced.

In case it wasn’t clear, “ties” are listed in tie-broken order.

What was “unneccessary” about it? I had five people voting for me at the time I claimed and was in the lead with votes.

Not different from here then.

The bolded part (which is mine).

He’s got a vote against the Captain, but that’s based on Hal’s own votes. TexCat has barely mentioned his own role. It smacks to me of someone who’s more interested in keeping a low profile than in making sure Town is on the ball.

I’m not sure what I could possibly say that I haven’t. I’ve said that my role is subject to the Captain’s whims. I can’t do anything until he does something. I’ve said that I don’t think we necessarily need to brig someone this early in the game. I’m not sure we should be brigging people without a good reason. Either we think they are scum and want to prevent them from voting or doing other evil, or we think they are town and want to prevent them from being night killed. Up until the mason claim, I didn’t think we had a good grasp on either. If you want to brig Inner Stickler, you need to lobby Hal to do it. Your suggestions to Hal carry just as much weight as mine do.

Since toDay ends while I’m in class tomorrow, I will make my votes official.

**Vote Hal Briston
Vote Drain Bead**

I will attempt to check back in the morning before the end of things, and hopefully have something else from either of these last two.

Looking at the vote totals and going back over the actions of a couple of the leaders I am not voting for (peeker, fluiddruid), I don’t see anything in their behavior that’s suggestive of scum or at all unreasonable. I may not agree with their premises that much, but I don’t see the cases for votes.

The votes for peeker seem to be predicated on his joke votes which I hold to be of no consequence or on metagame aspects that I cannot corroborate. 0/10

fluiddruid might be catching heat for making a slight error in recollecting past reasoning, but I can’t ascribe scum intentions to that slip-up. As to the reasons behind his votes, I agree with the decision to vote for the most recent people voting for Idle once taking as a premise that the bandwagon on him was likely to contain multiple scum. I find that premise a reasonable belief to hold, I just don’t agree with it. 0/10

For Mahaloth though, I’m less certain. He’s not participated further, and someone has corroborated my feeling that his reason for voting me was hypocritical given his other votes. I’m also concerned that he hasn’t put in an exam request. 2/10

However, he’s spared a vote because Drain Bead has drawn even more suspicion for continual silence. 4/10

Idle doesn’t look any better than previously with his continuing to push his claim as though it means something. 6/10

Hal has made a half-hearted attempt to explain himself, but hasn’t actually said anything of consequence and maintains votes that have no reason behind them despite the opportunity to remove them. 5/10

With someone providing a legitimate case for NAF’s claim along with my complete failure to find an actual scenario that matches with my potential hypothetical one, I’m not as leery of his claim. I still find it a bit suspect to make, and think his manner of playing is more suitable for scum. 3/10

I’ll probably have another post tomorrow morning. I project a possibility of unvoting NAF and voting Mahaloth, but I’ll see what’s up then.
