The “other top suspect”? By whose reckoning is **Johnny Bravo** the “other top suspect”? the vote count as of **septimus** ’ post:

Colby - 9
septimus - 6
ToeJam - 3
Lakai 3
Normal - 2
Angel - 2
7 people - 1

If there’s an “other top suspect” it would be septimus himself (though I suppose that asking for a self-vote is a bit much…). If not him, then \*maybe \*\*\*ToeJam \*\*or **Lakai** …but I fail to see how Johnny Bravo, tied for 7th place with 1 vote, qualifies here as a “top suspect”.

I have no particular problem with the fact that septimus voted for a ‘non-contender’ here, but his reasoning stinks.

So after all those posts about patsy this patsy that, I’ve come to the same conclusion I had before: It’s all up to whoever is the Patsy. If I notice a reason for why it might be smart to claim, I’ll of course share it.

There was something about this post that bugged me, but I couldn’t figure it out…until I took a good look at \*\*Plumpudding’s \*\*posting history in this game.

That’s 27 posts, almost all of which are discussions of mechanics, playstyle, game setup, etc. The only real ‘substantive’ posts are the ones in which he places votes. Interestingly, both votes are based on the player in question posting “fluff” or not participating fully…while Plumpudding himself has basically spent the Day doing exactly that. Also of note is that both votes are one-offs; the players in question are in absolutely no danger whatsoever of being lynched Today.

In short, Plumpudding has ‘good statistics’ toDay: lost of posts, a couple votes…but nothing with any actual weight. Just like Scum would want to do, so that they ‘look good’ while taking no chances of posting anything that might come back to haunt them later.

**unvote Colby11**
**vote Plumpudding**

I still think that Colby is Scum, and I’m suspicious of septimus as well. I’m placing this vote in order to get it on record, but should my potential vote on either Colby or septimus become ‘significant’ near EoD, I will change it.

But I sure know that deliberately and admittedly doing something that is anti-Town, based on the reasoning that “Scum wouldn’t do that” is irritating as hell, and not something we need in this game. I don’t know a thing about how **Angel** normally plays, but I don’t see the need to keep around someone who admits she isn’t going to bother to keep up with the posted rules, much less all the other goings on in-game.

This is complete bullshit, enough to make me vote you for it. I didn’t say any such thing, I said repeatedly that I will read the rules when I can, and I just commented on the other goings-on.

You are correct. You didn’t. And I should have pointed it out in my post.

The reason I stated my thoughts on my vote again was to make it clear, that I didn’t regard mine as such.

My phrasing could have been better.

Prof., do you mean to vote for Koldanar? Because you make the case that Koldanar wanted to join the fun then dropped the ball and misstated the rules above then vote Ender for those reasons below.

Sorry, wrong color up there.

Sorry, I failed to differentiate that you would eventually get around to checking the rules out. Hopefully, in time for the end of the day, but if not, well, at least you got some kind of vote in, right? And if not, you could always just swing your vote around to someone voting for you: that’s a sure sign of scumminess in your book, right?

Is that regarding your personal style or do you think this might effect more than you?

This game is HUGE and a lot of us haven’t played for years and - hey - let’s admit it: it is a reunion.

We all know what happens at reunions. Some never changed, others did and still others fall back to “the way they were”.

So isn’t in fact worth pointing out that in THIS particular game - we might find changed style in playing suspicious.
But following that line of logic: doesn’t that also then goes for NOT changed playstyle as well?

How can we deduce anything from “he always does this” in a game where other players openly admit that based on size and volume their usual play style doesn’t work in this setup?

No, it’s not; what is is either deliberately distorting or ignoring multiple things I said. This post has another one- I just explicitly stated I don’t find Total Lost suspect, and she’s voting me. So you’re making stuff up and attributing it to me.

That’s a good question. I think the answer is in two parts.

It specifically affects me because my town playstyle is to find the people I trust and to look for personal scum tells in those I don’t. I can’t easily here because the two scum teams enable someone who is “scum” to feign lack of knowledge easier, because they don’t have perfect information, they have a piece of it. And I can’t look for inconsistencies because I don’t know more people here than I do know. (Of the people I know, only Prof. P and Hooker are pinging me.)

I think your point that the size of the game will affect everyone’s playstyle is valid, though, and I’“” try to keep that in mind.

I’m ignoring the irrelevant things you say. I’m focusing on the problematic things.

Let me put it like this:

Welcome to Mafia. It’s a game about information. One side has information, and they’re the bad guys. The other side is seeking information, and they’re the good guys. Some information is given out at the start in terms of context. The good guys should try to make their decisions using as much of that context as possible. The bad guys can ignore the context and just play however they’d like because they’re not seeking information.

I don’t know what it means that you’ve decided to use your magic faerie wand to say that Ulla’s not scum. Maybe you’re snuggling her because you know she’s a townie. Maybe she’s your scum buddy and you’re not picking up on her attempt to orchestrate a cat fight as a demonstration to the rest of us. Or maybe you’re both townies, and you just have a great nose for truth. I can’t figure it out with the information at hand, so it’s irrelevant to me.

What I can figure out is that you apparently don’t want to bother reading the game set-up, and that is pretty damn scummy to me. You even recognize it’s scummy ,but you feel like acting scummy… gives you a pass because it’s too obvious? Well, it’s not too obvious for me. And I’ve played both scum and Town in this game before, and having votes being placed on me as scum is a lot more concerning. It’s the sort of thing that leads one to lash out, just like you’re doing. Why me instead of whomever else? Perhaps because you’re starting to see that the old “Obvious scum move is a great disguise for being scum” isn’t working out for you this time? I find that problematic.

I just looked at the roles doc and was trying (while allegedly trying to work) to read the rules but didn’t see this addressed directly. Are factional kills considered a passive power? (Maybe they usually are, though I feel like scum kills are usually visible to watcher-type powers. It’s been too long.)
>
> Also, you seem to be thinking triggering the multi-lynch is something the mafia would not want to do, so they have an advantage over the wolves. I feel like multi-lynch is not necessarily good for Town at all because it might be incredibly hard to control and then you have a cascade of death. Do you feel like multi-lynch is pro-Town?

The “can’t be blocked or seen” comes from [Night 0 #140](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showpost.php?p=19898166&postcount=140), and stems from the fact that the Scum kill isn’t made by any individual, but by the team as a whole.

And I think that multi-lynch isn’t always pro-Town, but there are some situations where it is, and thus it’s good to have the ability. For instance, there will come a time in the mid or late game when we mass-claim. At that point, we’ll probably end up with a bunch of confirmed Townies at once, by virtue of the unique roles, and we’ll want to start aggressively thinning the unconfirmed pool (in fact, some games end up in a “forced win” for Town, if there are enough confirmed that Scum can’t keep up). Multilynching is extremely useful for that.

Okay, so you find it BS. Fine, I can accept that. (While I don’t find it BS as such, slips like that are usually bad wording and not genuine slips. Then again, I thought the same about Total Lost in the Kree Planet Marvel game and she was the godfather.) But why do you find Guiri, ToeJam, and Lakai the most suspicious?

No, I’ve said about 45 times now that I am trying to read it and having difficulty, and didn’t think that was a good reason to stay out of the game until I was able to. And I’m voting you because you’re deliberately putting words in my mouth that I’m not saying.

The one valid thing you’ve said about me is that I said I wouldn’t admit I hadn’t read the rules if I were scum. You don’t buy that, fine. But every other point on me is actually the exact opposite of what I said, and I find that pretty scummy.

I don’t get the “bandwagon” (for lack of a better term) on **AngeloftheNorth**. If I understand the reasoning, “not reading the rules” is not necessarily Scummy, but openly stating that you have’t read the rules _is_. Is there more to it than that?

Personally, I read all of the "rules’, but I haven’t read in detail all of the role descriptions, their powers, and how they all might interact. There’s simply too much information to keep it all straight at this point, and frankly most of it is irrelevant at this stage of the game, since no Powers have yet been activated. As the game goes on (possibly as early as toNight) that will change. We’ll also have fewer players, which means less total “stuff” to keep track of, so it will become easier to juggle it all in my already busy brain.

But for now, I do believe that the general understanding I have of the game is sufficient for my Day 1 needs.

Which one of us is the weird uncle who turns out to be a racist after he gets a few drinks in him?

Awww…I’m blushing…:o

Thanks. That’s what I thought, but it’s nice for you to make it clear.

Then again, I thought the same about Total Lost in the Kree Planet Marvel game and she was the godfather.) But why do you find Guiri, ToeJam, and Lakai the most suspicious? (And being good at being scum is not a valid reason to find someone suspicious.)
>

> Why is Boozy the target of your OMGUS vote and not Zeriel or Total Lost? What makes him scummier than the other two?

In answer to your question about Guiri, Toejam, and Lakai, for the latter two, I felt like they were jumping on a bandwagon rather than really thinking about the issue. I’m thinking about this and I may be wrong because AFAIK they don’t know Colby. For Guiri, it’s just the sort of thing he does as scum and it makes me wary.

Re Boozy, I just explained this in my post to him but I’ll explain it again. Only Booz Squid is repeatedly saying things about me that directly contradict what I actually said.

I would like to submit an application for explanation, accompanied by the disclaimer that it is assess both.
