They can focus their protector-killer fire on him. With a soft claim, there was a chance that scum would be fishing around because even if you are right (and I don’t think you are) that scum would have been all over that, sure he was a power role, his soft claim would have drawn some fire, he might not have drawn protector-killing fire. Because scum wouldn’t have known if the protector(s) were going to be drawn out by it, especially given the protector-killing roles.

> Ha! I didn’t see this until I just doubled down on it. But I would have doubled down on it anyway, because I still think it’s the most likely vote to catch scum. And I don’t think it’s a shitty D1 vote. I think it’s an excellent D1 vote. It’s a vote for scum, rather than the votes on Angel which are votes mostly for being just anti-town, or the votes on lurkers who are just hoping they get lucky and that the reason for the lurking is scummy instead of just busy.

I didn’t say it was a shitty D1 vote. Ordinarily it would be an excellent D1 vote. I completely see how it looks like a scum slip.

My problem with it is solely that in many games (and some very recent games) Colby always gets lynched early for similar stuff. I’ve played with you and colby enough that I’m pretty sure you know that too. So right now doubling down looks more like scummy vote parking to me.

??? If you are “far more suspicious” of something else, perhaps you should vote there.

You’re connecting things that weren’t meant to be connected.

I didn’t say yours was a shitty day one vote. Your post about doubling down happened after the post you’re quoting.

You voted for TexCat. Then you said you’re far more suspicious of those who double down on a shitty Day 1 vote.

But then you said TexCat’s wasn’t a shitty Day 1 vote. So TexCat didn’t have a shitty vote and couldn’t have doubled down on it, so doesn’t that mean you find someone else’s doubling down Day 1 vote far more suspicious?

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I think the protector-killers are mostly irrelevant here. They only mean that Septimus can’t self-protect. Otherwise he’s more vulnerable to a factional kill, and we do have a role that can protect him from that.

It strikes me as unusual that so few have budged in their case against Colby. I feel like early Day 1 votes aren’t usually so stable.

Why does it only mean he can’t self-protect? How can someone protect him without risking the ricochet? (There might be a better term for that, but I’ve dubbed it a ricochet in my head.)

No, again, order is important.

I voted for Texcat, and in the same post said I don’t like people doubling down on to shitty day one votes.

The next post Texcat said “oh I did double down on it”

Then in reply I corrected her, in that I didn’t think \*her \*vote was a shitty D1 vote, but that I thought she would have known better to have voted for colby for poor phrasing.

Texcat’s vote on colby wasn’t a shitty day 1 vote, it had justification. I didn’t accuse Texcat of doubling down on a shitty day 1 vote, in fact I specifically said I wasn’t doing that.

I know that. But you said “I’m far more suspicious of players who double down on a shitty d1 vote because that screams to me of scum who have found a “safe” place to put a vote down and want to stay there. Everyone who is still on the colby wagon is suspicious to me because of that - it’s just placing an easy vote.”

So, if this isn’t referring to TexCat, who is it referring to? You said everyone who is still on the Colby wagon is suspicious for that. Except TexCat. But then you left your vote on TexCat. Do you see?

There are some 8 or 9 votes on Colby. Say he’s a Wolf for the sake of argument, and that the other Wolves want to save him. There’s only six of them. This game differs from most in that Town can ALMOST disregard a Scum swaying of the lynch. Granted, they can log onto one candidate, but it would be tantamount to suicidal for all of them to join together on one person. Persuasion has to be the Scum’s standard method of operation here, and that will be most effective at the EoD.

But the EoD is on a Sunday, which is usually less busy in a Mafia game. It’ll be harder for them to work shenanigans to save Colby. (Of course, Colby may very well be Town, I don’t know. He’s statistically more likely to be, in any case.)

I voted TexCat because she started the colby wagon. She was the one who picked up on the so called “scum slip”. When I’m talking about people who joined the wagon Texcat is the one person I could not possibly be talking about.

Unvote Colby11

Vote Toejam

I’ve been thinking of Colby’s defense of his statement and how undefensive it was. I think it mirrors my own response to people voting against me. On day one without any voting records or solid data any vote is going to based on nonsense. As a town person it feels hopeless to defend yourself because every town person will be suspicious no matter what you say.

However, if you are scum, then you are part of a small team that supports you and defending yourself feels less hopeless.

This is still a flimsy day one vote based on very little evidence, but I’m voting for Toejam for being too defensive.

Upon rereading Colby’s incriminating statement, I think it was just bad grammar rather than a scum tell. If he were on one scum team talking about the other team, why would he think most of the fire would come from the other team? There is no reason why one scum team would be more violent than the other. Is there?
