I don’t know if I think it’s enough to vote for this early on Day One, but that’s a heck of a good catch there.

It doesn’t seem to list other names, but this might be the one you are thinking of:

[Player Spreadsheet](https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1qm94xoTeanJLXbKQlePvP2IQE770VRcWyp_yVeoZk6Y/edit#gid=0)

It only listed genders, timezones, and a note about when we started playing. I just added myself. I’m male BTW. Since it’s freely editable I just added an Aliases column, whether or not it stays. I encourage everyone to update their entries so we know who is who.

>
> That’s **Roosh**? Hi **Roosh**! I need to re-read all his posts now, with old-school **Roosh** logic in mind.

Hey guys!
Yes. I’m \*\*Roosh[/r], the Shoeless GastardMod from the old old mafia games (Though I changed my name to **ToeJam** and played a few games on Giraffe before I had left for the last 6-8 years or so. I guess I assumed that people recalled that info, and it’s why I tend to sign my posts “-R”, but I hadn’t realized that some people might not recognize the SN.

But yes, I do have old habits.
I do tend to play ridiculously Townie always. Even as scum. I tend to post in spurts or long screeds at time, and I’m pro-helpful Townie actions like vote-counts and such, and I can get a bit heated at times (Sorry **Idle** ), intentionally provoking players to see if they can give tells, and tend to play aggressively. I have… some odd/controversial thoughts when it comes to how to play Town in Mafia.
But yeah, I’ve got some free time, and I’m glad to be back and playing with you guys!
\*\*
Now back to the Game:\*\*

So **Sunny Daze** , **Ullz** - I can’t really defend myself against accusations of “too quick to sound townie” or “he posts a lot and tries to sound Townie”. I would argue that THAT is my playstyle, and regardless of if I’m Town or Scum, I would take excess measures to do it for consistencies sake.
I would also argue that I tend to play lazier when I’m Town vs. when I’m scum, and I know the argument, “I’m really really good at playing scum” isn’t a great one- but that’s my retort to **Satch**. You pointed out on N0, I’m being a bit deferential to the players- well, it’s been a while since I’ve been on the Dope, and I know my playstyle… can be offputting. I guess I am slightly intimidated in returning to Mafia, and knowing that my excess posting can quickly take over. My goal is to avoid that (and I am no longer the mafia player of old- I simply cannot spend hours tracking stuff anymore, but rather an hour or two every few days checking in), hence the no notes and all comment.

**Now, On to the Rest** :

re: \*\* Colby\*\*
-The “Slip up” does seem like that- a slip up. There are a minimum of 3-4 teams at play here. Even if you just go “Scum, 3rd Party, Town”, I tend myself to say Town vs. “Not Town”, but I will clarify the groups out for clarity’s sake. While the slip up is suspicious, I don think he’ll have a lot to say to defend himself other than the “Town vs. Not-Town” Defense. So the idea of this lynch is fair. I agree it’s better than a Policy Lynch, or a Lynch the Lurker vote currently. But I think there’s plenty more day to go.

–More interestingly will be watching how the voting piles up. That’s always the meat of things. Because if I was scum, the whole point of being scum is you win as a team, and no one person is greater than the rest (minus the head guy)- so the goal is to diversify. So while some people are saying they’re most suspicious of the lurkers, or they’re suspicious of the fluff posters- the key is that scum will be in ALL of them, hence it’s good to be suspicious of all. Scum will want to vote early onto their own, they’ll want to defend their own, and they’ll want to lurk even. The key is tracking behaviors across the board and over time.

–\> That’s why I’m keeping an eye out on those players. I can see **Angle, Nesta** are more active now and hopefully that’ll continue over the course of the days. Because Night0 was important, and just saying “it’s all fluff, so I didn’t read it”, does make me think of scum trying to hide by staying low in post counts (but rarely do scum NEVER post. It’s more of flying under the radar than at 0).

–\>That’s why I believe Day 1 votes DO get more important **over the course** of the game. (to put my 2 cents in). Because we have more Data on each of the voting patterns of the Town/Non-Town players as we have more known dead bodies.

"I can't possibly be scum, I don't even know if they have their own board". I've seen scum try this tactic, although not quite this blatant.
Vote ToeJam**

-Weak sauce. As I noted on the Night 0 boards, I had misinterpreted **Pleonast**'s post as assuming he thought that scum didn't have boards to post on, which sounded really friggin' weird, but again, I'd been away for a while and maybe this was a thing that happened recently in a game. That's why I asked for a Mod Clarification. Because I'll admit- the idea that he was asking if Scum A could talk to Scum B could talk to 3rd Party Players- that just seemed too weird an idea to consider.
--Since then, I've looked up roles, there are communicator roles that can pass messages, and there are boards where people can post under aliases to 'taunt' one another or such, so I guess it's not such an unheard of concept. But in that moment, i was going WTF, and I posted on it.

> These two portions of your post seem a bit contradictory when you put them right next to one another. Day One votes are fairly irrelevant when you’re trying to figure out if someone is Town, but can be highly useful if you’re trying to locate Scum. I think the first portion of your post is ignoring the fact that we have two Scum teams (and some Masons, natch) who have knowledge of one another. That’s not in the sky at all, and there are some important things to be gained from looking at Day One votes later in the game, as more information is gained and subtle patterns can be discerned. If someone tries hard on Day One to divert attention away from another person, later on if that person is revealed to be an important Scum role, it is definitely worth looking into the person who managed to get a different bandwagon going on Day One.

For this specific game, perhaps my general advice doesn’t hold. Did I consider this specific game when speaking in general? No. Will it stop me from speaking in general now, or in the Future? No.

**Roosh?!** … One of the famed double Vowlers, if memory serves. Did we ever play together, with you as Roosh? … Seriously, on a OOG Level man, if you find a way to completely change your playstyle (As apparent want to do, given the name change) let me know how to do so likewise… Respectfully, I don’t think you, or anyone else, can do it… We are kinda baked into this.

**Unvote Bravo**

I’m not saying he’s innocent. And despite his assertstion, at best (benefit of the doubt here), that we shouldn’t pay as much attention to scum tells ((Then why are they called that?)) I don’t think he can do it. He cannot survive in the space he wants to carve out, we know exactly where to look for him now. That is, I think he will slip further, worser, later.

**Vote Colby**

Kinda like Colby has done.

And yeah, Colby’s slip / tell might not be as damning as it could be, but for a veteran player, and for day one? Yeah, this switch makes a lot more sense to me, than an admitted two reason, if not for one or the other, piecemeal vote I had out.

Thoughts on voting at this time. Not much to make of it.
–I can see where the worry over a “bandwagon” - can come about, as the votes quickly came in for Colby11- accumulating 3 votes of 6 cast in a period from post #91-106 (about 2 hours from around 840am to 10:38am), but that could be the nature of people getting up and actively posting at that time.
–The other high activity period was early on- the first 3 votes cast in posts 36,37, and 41. Again, too early for a pattern. But it’s data none the less.
–Total votes cast so far is 10, with plenty of suspicions abound. Do I think there’s a scum vote or two in those 10 votes, certainly. But can I say which one just yet? Not sure which one it is. I will say of the two votes on me, both are similar arguments (Variants on "he’s too pro-town"arguments), **Klutz** - I’m more familiar with having played games with (and the crappier argument), while \*\*Sunny \*\*is a bit unfamiliar to me, and went for a Shakespearean one liner to vote for me after just quoting my post. It seems a bit too “me too”-ish of a vote.

Let’s get a vote on the board:
**Vote Colby11**
-The slip up is an odd choice of words. His defense is likely to be “Town vs. other team is all else”, but this early into the game Slip Ups are better than policy votes and poke votes or lurker/random votes and I think will def. foster discussion and it will be interesting to see how the votes go down afterwards.

\*\*FOS: Sunny Daze \*\* - I feel the vote against me is more of a “me too” vote compared to Klutz’s vote, but it’s not the scummiest vote of the day so far, it’s just a bad vote in my mind.

Yeah. Just a shout out to one of my fav. Mafia players. It’s purely an OOG shoutout, and not related to this game. More of just a 😉 for them. If you need the story behind it… well you can ask Geady himself or just read Arkham.

Herself, damn it.

Yeah, that’s a reference to the Arkham Asylum game. I had a role with a post restriction that involved me not being able to use the letter B. I had to replace it with G every time. In a game involving Batman, this got a bit ridiculous. That’s why folks still refer to that game as “Gatman” occasionally. Or maybe that’s only me.

cool with that but putting it in a ‘vote count’ is poor form

You essentially made your future helpful vote counts suspect for accuracy
_more so than usual_

by that I mean any non official vote count should not be taken as gospel- errors occur- but you said yours was intentional.

Actually you and Squid only left me with a ping and a tingling feeling.

What made me wonder was, why IMO the same set of actions gave different RE-actions. So while I’d be willing to let other topics take over toDay, I will keep wondering about it - until I get a reasonable answer like I did from NormalP and Guiri-the Spanish.

We’re at 6 players now, I think, without showing signs of stopping anytime soon. I think this game’s only been going on for 24 hours, and on a weekend to boot. When you look at the percentage of votes against players who are currently active in the thread, it gets a bit more concerning.

If he’s town, I wouldn’t be surprised to see that 2-3 of those either voting or suspicious are Scum. And those who stated suspicion without voting should be given quite the side-eye later, if Colby turns out to be Town. Especially in early game, that’s a somewhat scummy tactic. It looks like someone hoping that later, when we’re all busy and overwhelmed by the game’s overall post count, they can hide because they didn’t actually cast a vote in that direction.

Ah, that’s the stream of consciousness **Roosh** I remember. I have fond memories of parsing your thoughts back on **Idle Mafia**.

I was originally very confused by your **Roosh** logic, but I think I see it now after going back through your posts. **Pleonast** posted:

(Which I find hilarious from a game Mod, BTW)

So, to summarize, you took **Pleonast’s** statement about scum coordination as a question about whether they had their own boards, which of course they do, but then researched whether there are roles that could communicate between the scum factions?

I’m having a hard time deciding if this is a derpclear (am I using that right?) or a false derpclear.
