> **Chronos** , this is what I find suspicious: that you seemingly put so little thought into a plan that required so much cooperation. When I read your plan and the reaction to it my first thought was that if **brewha** is town, and has a Vig switch, then it’s likely that the other Vig switch is controlled by scum. Your plan would commit **brewha** to setting his switch/toggle to “off”, leaving the scum player the option to leave theirs ”on”. If the Vig then targets **brewha** , according to plan, then **brewha** dies.

Most of this posts makes sense to me in the sense that I can follow your train of thought. You lose me briefly here though. You seem to have a different idea of how these switches work than I do… you imply that it’s a XOR switch but then your description it of an OR switch. If brewha toggles their switch, the person holding the other switch would either leave their switch alone and do nothing which would result in the power remaining off or they flip the switch and the power is turned back on. What you describe is an AND switch… you would need switch holders 1 AND 2 to use their switches to deactivate the power. I believe if neither uses their switch or if both use their switches then the power goes through if either or use the switch while the other doesn’t, power is “off”. That’s why it’s tricky… if scum will always have to wonder if they will be shutting down their own power by flipping their switch or if they would be overcoming town flipping their switch. But if the town switch is gone… they don’t have to guess any more… they can do nothing and the power stays “on”. And since they know that brewha has a vig switch… they are especially at risk for a scum kill because that would give them unfettered ability to turn our vig off.

> We could even form other groups that are made up of people who are leaning toward each other being town and debate how they should vote as a group. I think now is too soon for this to work, but since we are down so many power roles already I thought about asking all nillas to claim. Scum are broken up into two groups, so there is the possibility of cross fire. We just haven’t seen it yet. Scum want to kill power roles and switch holders… if nillas claim it narrows down the pool for scum to hunt in but increases the chances they’ll hit each other. Brewha is gonna be killed if town… I suspect that Capt and Crys will be scum targets before too long too… this could be devastating for town…

out all the 'nillas – have you lost your Mafia mind? I am tired but this is still :smack: 😕
That doesn’t do anything to advance the discussion. All it tells me is you don’t like the idea… not why. You may think it’s obvious, but I see a potential to increase the likelihood of cross fire. If scum want to claim nilla too and hide there, fine… but they can’t all do it or we would have a much smaller pool to fish in and it would be obvious how many scum fish were in the pond… and it eliminates their ability to false claim later in the game. It also gives any remaining protector roles less people to think about protecting…

But I want to hear why it’s a bad idea… genuinely… debate it with me… open invitation to all.

K. It’s not directed just at you, I’m asking what everyone thinks of the strategy… I’ve never played in a game this large… I think several here played in a huge 7 spies game just before I stopped playing… they might have insight into what works better than other things.

But if we claim, then surviving switch holders will know how to use their switch perfectly, which is only useful if scum cooperate or two townies hold a switch pair.

Was this ever resolved? I didn’t see it resolve. I’m already suspicious of DiggitCamara, so I’m biased… but to me this looks like it could be an attempt to communicate intended kill targets from one scum team to the other. Otherwise why so obviously botch the tagging… DiggitCamara didn’t have any problems with tags up til this point.

So your motivation for this is basically to remove batman from the game? Do you have some 3rd party win condition on taking out batman?

There was day 1 speculation about there being 4 third parties, so for the sake of argument, let’s assume that is correct for now. We’re down 6 townies, so it’s 31 v 4 v (7v7), so yes batman is currently about twice as likely to hit town than scum, or bit less than twice as likely to hit town than non-town. But your plan could get yourself and batman killed, which is more damaging to town than batman shooting in the dark and providing us with more information.

And from Mahaoloth’s example in #397, your plan would be scuppered by the person holding the other batman switch throwing it - you’d be dead, and batman likely exposed.

I think each mafia faction had their own conversation on this matter privately. And wouldn’t have needed to take the risk of claiming to further discussion on this topic. I think brewha, capt, and crys should consider block voting toDay while they are all still around…

certainly plausible tho there is no way to verify that someone has a switch, the mods have already stated that switches will not be revealed at death - so anyone could claim they have a switch

I don’t recall the mods saying one way or the other if color was just color or something to read into.

**Is the color just colour or should we read into for who was killed by who?**

The town watcher role is for a d/n cycle - this explanation would assume that the watcher chose to watch toejam on d1 rather than septimus.

More content… good… except it’s criticizing inner Stickler for having cast suspicion on Angel and Boozy… and your second post was casting suspicion on angel… I thought the same thing as inner Stickler about the exchange between Angel and Boozy… if you were already suspicious of Angel, why would you dismiss inner sticklers suggestion and criticize him for making it?

And then there’s this post…
Oh wait… that was it… 60% of your posts today can be summed up as lurking is bad. 20% is casting suspicion on Angel and the remaining 20% is casting suspicion on inner Stickler for casting suspicion on angel…

If this is participation, I’ve been playing wrong.

I know it’s possible, but what is the motivation to false claim switch holder, lying to town, and make yourself a target to both scum teams… or if you are posing a scum false claim they make themselves appear town and a target to the opposing team… not smart when your wincon depends on your numbers being higher than theirs.

> Unless they are switched off, I imagine.

Unless of course **Brewha** is making the entire thing up, which I admit was my first instinct. First of all because the Vig MUST kill someone every night (this is the only role that is so specific and also doesn’t mention any altering conditions). If **Brewha** is telling the truth there are only 2 people in the game who know this - **Brewha** and the person with the other alleged Batman switch - and that is how it will remain unless the unknown switch holder speaks up, which they likely will not, and should not, do. Since we get no information on the switches upon death **Brewha’s** death won’t tell us much beyond his alignment and what we can deduce from that.

The other thing that I was thinking is about the distribution of switches - my automatic assumption was that specific role switches will not be held by their own team, which could be entirely incorrect but seems somewhat logical. It makes me wonder whether the switch distribution was completely random or not (I’m thinking not as that could cause some serious balance issues).

Sorry to be going on about switches but I think they are the ultimate WIFOM scheme. However I think they are simpler than what some players are making them out to be. My understanding is that every time a switch is flipped it results in the opposite thing happening. The wrench in that is that their are roles that can turn all switches on or off, and I’m assuming that is absolute.

I have not read all posts from toDay yet so apologies if these things have been covered - I wanted to get it out there before I forgot my train of thought.

I want to believe he’s Town, but I can’t help but be suspicious:

As I catch up to all the late night posts, other thoughts from yesterday.

I see Red still hasn’t posted? His voting post (Lightfoot, you asked me about this) was light and breezy, and he didn’t come back.

Inner’s vote on lakai(1) day one didn’t ping me either way - I’m not worried about that post.

Referencing sach, post 177 : I agree with balancing kills via multi lynches, with, of course, a caveat.

This should only hold up early game - I’m re-reading, but someone mentioned that the slower the game goes, the better for town. I agree, up to a point - we are still what, 49 players deep here? We need some movement early, and so far, all of that movement has led to dead town, and not much info otherwise. Once we get to a smaller pool, multi lynches get worrisome, especially if the two scum teams have not been whittled down.

This of course, all assumes that we can even get multi lynches.

Regarding brewha - I’m fairly confident that he’s on the up-and-up here - I’m not sure, without some complicated gambit, how he would be scum and make this claim. I’m not sure I am ok with him sacrificing himself to test, but that would get us something, at least.

There is no easy answer to this, I wish there was. We are not intentionally trying to give clues in the color, but we (at least in the color I write) am trying to accurately describe the game. So maybe you can find something there due to mod PIS? But the color is mostly there for your amusement and to provide a storyline for anyone who is into that sort of thing.

I’ll PM Idle and see if this is possible. I’m not sure actually.

Oh and, in my experience the more people who are in a Mafia game the more people complain about it. It’s cool. Day 2 and 3 of big games are always a slog. Around Day 4 things should pick up again.

1. I firmly believe Brewha is town and I’m very suspicious of the people who suspect him for his claim.
2. I don’t understand the plan with the switches so I won’t comment on that until I reread.
3. I strongly agree with ComeToTheDarkSide’s analysis of why we need a second lynch.
4. I’m still strongly suspicious of Idle. However, because of #3 I need to move my vote somewhere where it will count.

Yes, and let me say, NAF and I are not overly bogged down, just really busy. I’m actually thrilled to be modding this game and am enjoying it a lot. Naf, story, and I worked pretty hard(uh, really hard) to make it, too. Our 3 person discussion is over 400 posts long right now.

As for the malware redirects, I have no idea. Let me say once again…I voted to host on giraffe. And I love the Dope!

Guys guys guys, you are all putting too much thought into the word toggle.

A regular old light switch is called a toggle switch. One direction is on and one direction is off. If it is in a default state of ON, then toggling (moving it to the other direction) it will turn it OFF. Toggle and flip have the same meaning. If the other switch holder toggles/flips theirs then it turns it back ON.

I have this setup in my kitchen where the same light is controlled by 3 different switches (big kitchen). I can turn the light off at one switch, turn it back on at another etc etc etc. Up and down don’t have any meaning. All the switches can be in different positions and the light be off (hence toggle). In this case say the switches all start at ON or \< and they are in pairs, so \<\<. One person toggles/flips and you have \<\> which results in OFF. If both people toggle/flip you have \>\> which is back to ON.

Anyway Mahaloth cleared this up a few posts ago and told us how they work and how they affect each other.
