> Meeks, you just seem more paranoid that people aren’t playing by a similar set of principles regardless of alignment than holding a healthy amount of vanilla townie skepticism.

I was just about to offer an aside to the Mods via pm. But what the hell:::

Mafia challenges my personally held beliefs. It argues thoughts ((Easily politicized)) that I KNOW to be wrong. And what really, really gets to me, is that I’m forced to battle these thoughts in the middle of a passion of mine, gaming. Like, I know the inevitable here (((All Mafia Games, the Mafia “”“Theory”“”))) and remain perplexed why we aren’t there yet.

Yes. Mafia should … Needs to teach me things. But I’m not sure anyone will fully understand why I say that.

There is a limit [[And I think a vast majority of us, in this game, are there]] where it becomes banging your head into a wall, ad infinitum.

I can’t grasp willful ignoring of the obvious. … Please return that to me twisted, used against me.
… My turn for sarcasm.

Bodyguarding or blocking?

Crys, on D1 there was a suggestion for non-win-stealing third parties to claim, under no pressure. I realize you cannot answer for the other 4 cultists, but why did you not claim then? Surely it would have been a perfect opportunity to demonstrate that you are not a threat?

I presume neither Drain Bead, nor Brewha nor you claimed not to be third party.

\*\*
unvote Captain Klutz\*\*

\*\*
Vote Brewha\*\*

I’m terribly bad at catching breadcrumbs lol. It was night one and a shot in the dark. today its only day 2, and it could be that many of the other cultists are sitting back in the background however I’m changing my vote because I have a new theory and it didn’t smack me in the face until i went to go reread those rolls.

Brewha could very well be a major liar. While I was reading rolls I came across this :

Welcome to the game; you are The Consigliere

ALIGNMENT: Mafia
YOU WIN if the total number of living Mafia is greater than or equal to 50% of the total population AND greater than the number of living Wolves.

BACKGROUND:
Hey, you are the guy who was mentioned as looking a lot like a young Robert Duvall in the preview color. You’re practically famous already! What else would anyone want to know about your character? If anyone has questions tell em to watch The Godfather. If they still have questions, have em whacked. They should know their place. You are the most trusted advisor to the Godfather, and as such are maybe the most powerful scum player in the game. But you are also not really IN the mafia, ya know? So your powers are also pretty weak. Sound like a contradiction? Maybe. But you’re a complicated kind of guy.

POWERS:
You have contacts with people at the very top and the rock bottom of the great food chain that is a modern urban environment. Those contacts grant you access to the following three abilities, any of which may be used only by Night; people of the kind that you depend upon don’t like to operate while the sun shines. You may use only one ability per Night, and may use any given ability only once per game.
At your word, your army of bought engineers, electricians, and plumbers will reset all switches in the game to the “off” positions.
Send a low level informant to follow any player in the game and report back to you who, if anyone, targets that player during the Night.
Once per game, you can activate all of your contacts at once, sowing madness and chaos across the city. For that cycle - ie, the Night on which you use the power and the subsequent Day - all role blocks and protective powers are automatically cancelled (including your own team’s!).

and this

Welcome to the game; you are The Omega Wolf

ALIGNMENT: Werewolves
YOU WIN if the total number of living Wolves is greater than or equal to 50% of the total population AND greater than the number of living Mafia.

BACKGROUND:
So the folks in payroll tell me you’re sort of a Sorcerer Werewolf, which seems a bit on the redundant side, supernatural identity-wise. They also tell me you’re looking to get separate paychecks for each role, which I think reflects a lot of spunk and enthusiasm on your part. Also, definitely no. Anyway, looks like you’re basically the utility infielder of the fuzzy set, so have fun with that.

POWERS:
You have three powerful metaphysical abilities, any of which may be used only by Day; you’re a bit busy ravening and drooling to do anything particularly useful by Night. You may use only one ability per Day, and may use any given ability only once per game.
With but a thought, you can telekinetically reset all switches in the game to the “off” positions.
Telepathically follow any player in the game and learn who, if anyone, targets that player during the Day.
Once per game, you reach out and stimulate the psyches of every player in the game, making them rash and reckless. For that cycle - ie, the Day on which you use the power and the subsequent Night - all role blocks and protective powers are automatically cancelled (including your own team’s!).

Do I think that Brewha is one of these rolls. No. I don’t. I believe that Brewha is being truthful about their switch, but because they aren’t worried about the repercussions on them they are fishing for info for the real resetters. I can’t be sure of this and I know I have made a drastic turn on my view, but after rereading all the lies n such, if Brewha was a member of my cult I think they would have no reason to lie about it. I mean lets be honest. Even if you kill us both and we would have both turned up Lutha it might give some cred to the rest of our group. The three members that would have been left. I’m glad none of the rest of my cult has spoken up to try and save me. I did make a mistake and for that I’m sorry but hopefully when I die, which i will soon. I mean I did just claim to turn the switch on the bodyguard every night and if i was scum I would really, really want to take me out lol.

I probably shouldn’t read the board after I have taken my meds lol. Lesson learned!

It is mafia… it’s using towns numbers to their advantage. If majority of players agree to a plan and move on it, then either you propose that two different scum factions and all third parties are coordinating openly with each other or the majority consists of majority of town. If someone does not comply with the plan it adds a layer of suspect to them. It makes them toe the line and follow the will of the majority or face being in the spotlight. I find that still falls within the spirit of the game… if you want a game that doesn’t include anything but words you should only play basic mafia games that have no power roles… after all, aren’t any investigative roles just short cuts that find results not based on words but the use of a mechanic?
Get over it Meeko… in any give. Game you are going to have a unique set of mechanics in play… I find no issue with examining how they interact and if town can somehow use them to our advantage. Taking a hardline stance against innovation is bad. If a plan is good enough for half of the players to agree to it, then it can’t be all scum… the numbers aren’t there… even if both scum teams are somehow coordinating with each other to forward a scummy agenda it would still only make 14 by my count… that’s about a quarter of the living players… which means half the people supporting the plan would have to be town or 3rd party…

Because I knew that regardless of when I claimed and I was the first I would die. You guys can say that we would have no pressure, but that is false and you know it. When you can’t lynch scum let’s test the 3rd parties. Its the nature of the game. Had I not been brain boggled I probably wouldn’t have claimed. However since I had surgery, and my shoulder really hurts I have been relying on my meds to ease the pain. This morning I am clear headed and at the computer. I probably should have waited longer before trying to play mafia. That is my mistake and one that I will not make again. This morning I am sitting at my keyboard just ignoring the pain to get some clear headed thoughts out and on the board.
\*\ ***Notice I will be taking my meds with lunch. So any posts past like the next half hour of my time I will be on a percocet. So if I don’t answer right away keep that in mind**

If you’re talking about the “I’m not third party, I’m Town,” I was one of the ones who actually did it…

If I was a cultists and saw the situation brewha was in I would have to consider whether or not there was potential for them to also be a cultist before casting a vote for them. With that extra layer of WiFoM, I could easily be misleading by my gut into thinking there’s a good chance I’m about to watch a teammate get lynched. And if there are really only 5, in a game this size it would not surprise me if more than a few cultists are killed without the killer knowing they are cultists.
>

The only problem with this theory is that Crys says she thought Brewha was a cultist because of a hunch. She had no evidence to suspect Brewha was a cultist which means she claimed based on a hunch to save another player.

The only way this might make sense is if the cultists have a tell that Crys is trying avoid revealing. Maybe Crys knows Brewha is a cultist because of the tell, and doesn’t want to reveal this fact because it would expose the other cultists. But even this theory still has the problem that her claim just put two cultists in danger instead of just Brewha. It wasn’t certain that Brewha was getting lynched. But now that Crys claimed, it’s very likely that she could be a target, like she mentioned. So by her own admission she put herself in danger to save Brewha who was already in danger.

\<grrrr…\>

Anyway, the short version was…sorry. Again. I’ve been about as useless a player as can be, and non-participation is only to the detriment of this game (less so when we’re dealing with a player pool of this size, but it’s still, it sucks).

So, I’m going through toDay try and catch up – to try and put together some useful thoughts. More later.

Could you be a little more specific? There are a lot of plans on the table, and I think I’ve weighed in on all of them, but it’s quite possible that I missed one or two.

And of course Town does and should try to make plans, and of course Scum can and do try to interfere with them. That’s one of the ways we find Scum. Heck, at some level, that sums up the entire game: Town makes a plan of “Let’s all lynch the scummiest people we can find”, and Scum tries to prevent that from working.

Sometimes a plan actually works as designed, and gives Town some advantage. Sometimes Scum successfully prevent it from working, in a way that makes them a little more obvious. Sometimes they successfully prevent it from working while staying hidden. Sometimes a plan fails due to unanticipated factors, or bad luck, or just because it was a bad plan. All of that is part of the game.

As usual I disagree with you Meeko, but that is nothing new. I feel there is play here, even if my own was confused and misguided. People are trying to figure things out, however I think they are looking in the wrong direction in some cases. I mean I am 3rd party, non hostile, and I can win with any faction. I would prefer to win with town which is why I flipped my bodyguard switch. There are no vanilla scum they all have powers. I logically looked at the roles and I think the switch resetters are the ones that would be protected because as scum that is what I would do. Protect our switch resetters so things can go on as normal. I flipped my switch which means if no one else did we can possibly take out the bodyguard, which will allow us to take out the resetter of the mafia if we happen to find them and lynch them. Me stating that I planned to toggle my switch everyday tells the other one that has it not to do so. I’m assuming you wouldn’t be given a switch for your own factions power. In my mind its another mechanic used for screwing things up for mafia and wolves

No. If you continue reading you will see I put in a completely different theory that I think is plausible. Im just trying to get thoughts out before someone takes me out. Town with the lynch of scum with the nk. I made a mistake it happens, I mean don’t forget that all you see is pixels, but behind the pixels is still a human being that isn’t infallible.

Never happened to me, and I’ve seen plenty of times where the page updated while I was quick-replying. The new post just ends up after all of the ones that came in. What browser/OS is that?

Oh, and **ToeJam** , now that you’re back and have avoided the mod-kill, you should know that you’ve got a big fat target painted on you. I think that the only possible way you avoid a Vig kill or lynching toMorrow is if you claim a power role. Yeah, I know that lynch the lurker sucks, but it’s the only possible counter to a Scum deliberately lurking. In an ideal game, we’d never lynch the lurker, by virtue of not having any lurkers in the first place.

I disagree, but I might be a bit biased I don’t want any of my non hostile buddies to die, and if i did survive it takes away all the fun for the cultists cause we don’t have to hunt for each other anymore. I think this takes away from the spirit of the roles in the game.

The claim and PM are detailed and unique enough that I’m not sure anyone would risk making them up. Whether or not a few words were changed, I have no idea. But for now I find **Brewha** more suspicious.

Yeah i confused the quoted pms in posts while under the effect of 2 percocets. ☹ I’m very sorry. I stayed drug free this morning to re read everything.

She’s unwilling to explain why she thought Drain was a cultist. She tries to just shrug it all off with random hunch. I might buy random hunch on the Drain investigation, but I don’t think that you claim like Crys did on a random hunch.

I’m getting kind of sick of this logic.

If you were looking for non-town team members on public boards what would you look for? I would be lost. I might try looking for breadcrumbs… I might just start investigating people. You seem to suggest you would play the role differently and that’s why you are suspicious of Crys, but don’t say what you would have done that differs.

Let’s say that Crys is holding back info on why they thought brewha and drain were cultists… if they revealed that info it would tell everyone what they were looking for and that would make whatever they were looking for pointless there forward and it would endanger the other cultists displaying whatever it is Crys was looking for. If Crys wins if one of them survive, why would Crys give away tips on hunting for them?

Furthermore, if you are town, why do you care exactly what he was looking for? It doesn’t further town at all…

If you honestly think Crys is scum then please explain the scum motivation behind their claim… to me, the only way it makes sense is that Crys and Brewha are scum together. And if that’s the case, then why did Brewha deny being part of the cult? It doesn’t make sense… if Crys’s claim is a scum ploy to swoop in and save scum Brewha, then why would scum brewha turn down the save attempt?

Brewha lied… and they claim to hold a switch. I see strong scum logic behind their actions… I can’t say the same for Crys…

If I’m missing something, please feel free to point it out… but as I see it, you are casting aspersions at Crys without explaining how them being scum makes sense.

Town with the lynch of scum with the nk. I made a mistake it happens, I mean don’t forget that all you see is pixels, but behind the pixels is still a human being that isn’t infallible.

I actually think your mistake is plausible, because I made a mistake as Lakai Ver. 1.0 when I misread what Colby was saying.

That’s why I’m voting for Brewha and not for you. I think the case against Brewha is stronger than the one against you.

Oh and I just want to throw out there I am still heavily pinged by the way that Captain Klutz redacted his pm. Idk if he threw the scum role redacted there to get some cred for his wolfy self. I’m thinking from wording and the way he is working now to vote me out is because I controlled the other half of his switch. I might be completely wrong, but again I’m starting to think his participation could be a huge fishing expedition as well. Just getting my thoughts out there because at the moment we are creeping steadily to the 17 vote 2nd lynch and my behind is currently sitting in that frying pan which is ok. I can at least prove that my faction is non win stealing.

If you really think they are exclusive 3rd party… then I have a couple of problems with your response.
1.Your suspicions of why they thought Drain and Brewha were fellow cultists makes no sense to me.
2. Being exclusive makes them a scum problem too… why spend our lynches solving any problems that are obstacles for scum? If we solve the problem because it poses a risk to town, we are also solving a scum problem. If we don’t lynch the third parties, scum will have to do it… and I do mean that if they don’t they will lose. Town has to kill all Scum… scum dont have to kill all town… if a scum team loses no members and the game gets to 14 players and the third party is alive, would scum lose?

That would depend on what the third party’s win condition is. If **Crys** is being honest, then we know what the Cult’s win condition is, and when it would trigger. If she’s not being honest (and is presumably an exclusive win-stealer), then we have no idea of either, beyond knowing that whatever the win condition is, it’s something that can trigger before Town or either Scum hit their wincon.
