> I realize that we wouldn’t necessarily reach the vote totals needed naturally. But I’m thinking that we would have the normal vote and a dummy vote for the second Lynch. Then on Saturday or Sunday we move votes around to make the second Lynch happen. Perhaps I’m expecting too much.

I’m with you on this, I think we need it.

That last post sounds more combative than I intended it to.

The danger of the multilynch is that we risk running through our mislynches too quickly. But, on the assumption that scum will bandwagon a townie (or in this game a non-scum-of-their-faction) in order to save a fellow scum, then lynching the second vote getter should in those instances net us a scum. One for one trades are generally considered acceptable. I don’t know. My kneejerk reaction is to avoid it but I tend to fall for mathematical traps.

> Should we discuss whether we think the multilynch makes sense given the state of the game as it stands? I don’t feel good about it, though I recognize that it’s very context specific as to whether it makes sense. I know I’m repeating myself, but it feels like something that could get away from us really quickly, though that’s less of a concern when we have 2 than we we have 3 with it’s very low thresholds.

I also don’t like it. The lynch is a necessary evil at the start of the game. We’re firing into a crowd of many more Townies than Scum, and for the most part, we don’t know where to point the gun yet. No-lynching is a bad idea here at the beginning, because we’ll never start to get information otherwise, but we open ourselves up to too much scum manipulation when we start trying to get second-place cases in.

Now that’s my analysis based on single scum team games. I’m not sure if it’s less true here, because the all the scum can’t coordinate together. But I think it’s still mostly true.

Got it. So perhaps we should all be listing 2 votes then, to capture that second lynch?

**Vote ToeJam** First lynch
**Plumpudding** second lynch

Why **Plumpudding**?

1. Burby picked him on Day 1. I initially dismissed it as an attempt to divert attention from Colby, but I’m inclined to take another look knowing SP’s role.
2. **Plum** posts a lot. As I run back through it, I’m not finding a lot of substance. I’m reading this as a tell. He gets my vote for our second lynch.

Can you explain this? I can see how it’s going to be necessary later on, but why do we need to use it now, when we really don’t know enough to use it wisely?

NETA: I suppose my proposal is that we list our second lynch choice (if we’re comfortable doing so) and then we can decide whether or not to implement the second lynch later in the DAY if it looks like we’re even going to hit the totals.

If we don’t attempt to at least collect the votes, we won’t have the option.

> Pleonast, while I’m not saying Thing Fish couldn’t be scum, I’ll admit that early in Day 1, I too made the assumption that the other factions have boards to discuss strategy. I don’t recall if anyone specifically called me out on it, though. I realized afterwards that the rules do not specifically state that to be the case. But it seemed like a natural assumption to make given my experience that every other game I’ve played in allows scum to participate off-site and I can’t fault others for leaping to the same conclusion. If your experience has been different, I can understand your suspicion.

Please reread my argument:

> [@Pleonast](#):
>
> Second, the “scum advising your teammates on how to play and/or hinting to them that you are that seventh guy who didn’t show up to chat”. While Scum roles do not include teammate information, we have no indication whether or not their secret boards include teammate information. But **Thing Fish** does know that.

We _do know_ that each Scum team has a secret board in this game. We _do not know_ what information is contained there. **Thing Fish** has implicitly stated that each secret Scum board _does not state_ who is on that team. It is impossible for anyone not Scum to know that. Thus, **Thing Fish** is Scum.

I could be wrong, I’ll double check, but I believe that everyone posted at least once in either Day 1 or Night 1.

Right now it’s possible someone will be mod killed or subbed at the end of the Night, but unless I missed someone no one is set to get mod killed at the end of Day.

I’d say that you’re stretching Pleo, but that wouldn’t be fair to stretches. You’re more like leaping across a canyon for that one. I’m very suspicious of you.

But first I’d like to register a vote for someone else, though it’s not something I expect will go anywhere, nor do I actually think he’s scum.

**Vote Chronos**

One of the more famous(infamous?) roles in Mafia history was the Riddler from Arkham Asylum. For those unaware, it was a third party, solo win role that won if it ever linked all the player names with their correct character name(all players in the game were assigned a unique character name from the Batman universe, such as the Joker, Riddler, etc.). It came REALLY close to winning the game, mostly missing out due to Naf as the Penguin switching character names with one of his pseudo mason minions(Cookies I believe?). The reason I bring this up is that a throwback game like this could easily include a role similar to that one. Perhaps they have to find all the third parties? Especially since Naf, one of the main players of the Batman situation, is one of the moderators here. I could see Chronos having some weird third party exclusive role that requires information from other players, and his little “I am not third party” gambit could play a role in it.

As for multilynch, I think it’s a bad idea this early. Town’s weakness is lack of information, which is self correcting as time goes on. A longer game is better for Town, and multilynching shortens game rather than lengthening it.

Crap - I’m an idiot. It’s like the other votes isn’t. It’s just the second person on the list. You don’t vote for 2 people. :smack: I thought I had found the reason why some people listed all those votes.

Right now we are looking at 2 Town directed kills versus 3 not-Town directed kills. By including a second Lynch we will be looking at 3 Town directed kills to 3\*-ish not-Town directed kills. That is good for town.

- I’m assuming septimus was killed by Mafia and Normal Phase was killed by a Third Party.

The third lynch won’t happen because we don’t have one today. Only two townies died last night.

For those of you doubting the power of the multi-lynch in a multi-scum setup, [Hall of Heroes 3](http://www.giraffeboards.com/showthread.php?t=42141). (I was scummy Count and may have been the only person to realize that the third lynch would happen prior to Dawn.) Amazingly, the scum team that gets hammered (2/3 dead) that morning won.

\*\*It’s my game as well and called Hotel of Heroes, not Hall. It was stunning. I don’t mean my design, just the way things played out. Like you said, the very team that got borderline wiped out in a big multi-lynch ended up winning with its own sole survivor. \*\*

I think SK’s are win stealing and I believe the mods said no win stealers.

FOS jsgoddess.

Jsgoddess was pinging me earlier on yesterday because someone called her out on fluff posting & then I started noticing her fluff posting a lot. When I went to do a wall of words on her though the fluff to content wasn’t actually that bad. Still something that struck me from day one.

On continuing my read I notice jsgoddess is called out by AngeloftheNorth for the Lakai thing too. I’m not sure I buy her explanation that she knew they were dead but was listing all her scum leans. Why would you do that? Particularly when they subbed back in.

I wasn’t trying to say being helpful was townie, I said trying to look too helpful was scummy. FlyingSquidWithGoggles used to do that a lot as scum, posting helpful vote counts with colours and lists etc which allows you to be high “content” without really accusing people. Mind you in this case looking back I retract my point, giving a list of lurkers probably was a validly helpful thing to do.

I really thought that the mods stated no win stealing third parties. If so then trying to actively lynch a third party seems very anti town.

To sum up, FOS jsgoddess. Still suspicious of Texcat from yesterday. Also the Colby voters but I haven’t gone back to D1 properly to check.
