You’re positing two parties targeting him, one having absolutely no effect, and an unknown third party making the other kill: That seems like a lot of extra assumptions to make, when we can account for both kills using mechanics known to be in the game. This was from the N1 thread. I admit posts were fast and furious at the end of D1, but I have zero memory of septimus publicly saying he’d self-protect. Did he really do that? Because with the existence of the Outrider/Hitman roles, that’s a really bad play. Can you link the post where he said that?
