I thoroughly disagree with this statement. I think if one has any suspicion, even a slight one, he should have his vote there. IMO, one should always have a vote on someone, regardless of whether it’s an air-tight case, or a fairly weak one. The point is, the vote says “this is who I’m most suspicious of”, it does not say “I’m quite certain this person is scum”. If you look at my vote, I had it on **Sitnam** for much of the Day. It was initially a random vote, but he also did things that I felt warranted investigation. I wasn’t even remotely sure that he was scum. I changed my vote to **Menocchio** when I felt he was more likely to be scum. That’s not to say I’m certain he’s scum either. In fact, I’m not even convinced he’s more likely to be scum than not, but I DO think he’s the most likely to be scum. His death will also generate information based not only on those who voted for him, but also those who didn’t then, based upon his alignment, we can scrutinize the votes, particularly those lacking good reasoning. > [@](#): > > By voting solely out of a sense of duty I would be putting conviction where there really isn’t any. I gather this is just your playing style and an attempt to inform new players like myself so that they’re harder to manipulate by scum. On the other hand I get a vague notion of you using your forcefulness to make others play by your rules, making them fall in line with your plans. See, you DO have reasons to vote for people. Most of that is par for reasoning on Day One, and I could accept a vote for any of those (obviously excepting **Nanook** since you state you are no longer suspicious) as a good Day One vote, including the one for me. So tell me, which of those do you find most suspicious. Unless you’re not more convinced than purely random (which you obviously are, since it’s a proper subset of the population), then you have no good reason not to vote. ---

Anyway, I’ll vote now because I gather that you voice the general consensus on what is best in this case. The day has been anything but simple in Simpletown, but regardless of the complexity of the task at hand, the sun sets over Simpletown and the Simpletons converge on **Menocchio**.
