Just saw the update from our host - **js** , if you want to stay in, please do, but I’m happy to fill in if you don’t. I have a bit of time off over the next few weeks, so I should be able to keep up OK. It’s been awhile since I played mafia, but I think I can get back into the swing of things pretty quickly. **NIGHT ZERO** All Role PMs have now been sent. Please acknowledge receipt either in this thread or by return PM; the game proper will begin once all players have so acknowledged. Importantly, though, as of this moment all players have roles and therefore you should consider the game to have begun. Anything you say from here on out is fair game! For Night Zero only, players are permitted to discuss general strategy, but no voting until Day One begins. Wolves are permitted to talk strategy on their private board. No powers or kills will be used on Night Zero. ---

That’s potentially an incredibly powerful tool for Town, if we can coordinate enough to use it. If we at any point ever have a claimed First Mason, for instance, the other Masons need not confirm or counterclaim: We need only engineer a tie between the claimant and the next suspect. If the claim is legitimate, First will survive. Likewise, we can use this mechanism for wolf-hunting. If we ever have a verified First Mason, we could engineer a tie between any two other candidates, with First abstaining from the vote. Then, based on how the tie breaks, we could determine which faction contains the Alpha Wolf. Even if we can’t directly catch the Alpha that way, it would give the Seer a pool of players to choose from who are known not to be the Alpha. Similarly, if we can catch the Alpha, and all remaining Masons are known, then we can use ties to try to find the other Wolves. Now, using these methods is likely to result in exposure of our Masons, but that’s not all that bad. Masons have to reveal eventually, anyway, to be useful, and if they die, well, a Wolf for a Mason is a good trade for Town. And so long as the Guardian lives, the existence of outed Masons presents a “Wine in Front of Me” problem for the Scum, in that they have to decide whether their target is likely to be protected. ---
