Yes, but I was explaining why I was not voting for gnarlycharlie as I said I would do if the PMs did not match. I was not trying to make an argument one way or another regarding fubbleskag.

OK, looking back I see I said “I am not worried about their PM’s”. I will say that it is not really my main concern now, but I was saying this in regards to what I had said about voting gnarly. I do realize that fubb’s could be fake.

Babale, I quoted this for your benefit. This is the single most scummy post of the entire game so far. I’m not voting for Kelly because I don’t want the pardoner to waste their power (which I am convinced will be used today, no matter who the lynch leader is) on him/her.

Kelly, I will almost certainly be voting for you tomorrow.

> I’m going to cross my fingers and work under the assumption that **Stanislaus** was not cloaked, and is therefore town. With that in mind, I was prepared to give extra credence to his vote of **Inner Stickler**. However…
>
> In [making his case](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showpost.php?p=15238124&postcount=375), he pointed out several things he found scummy about **Inner Stickler** …but not so much about him, as his playstyle. And in reading through the case, I find **Stickler** ’s playstyle to me extremely similar to mine.
>
> **Stanislaus** has problems with **Sticker** bringing up strategies, but “not married to it” and “non-committal”, when I find inflexibility to be very anti-town. I can’t make heads nor tails of his accusation that “He’s happy to push discussions that don’t themselves lead to finding scum. E.g. Directing investigators”, since it seems like he’s saying “investigators don’t find scum”, which is clearly not true.
>
> So, while I disagree with much of what **Stanislaus** has to say, I’m going stick with the thought that he’s saying it from a townie perspective. And although it wasn’t part of his reasons for voting **Stickler** , he also quoted a bit that is pinging me more and more:
>
> I had already mentioned there was a very good strategic reason for scum to lay low on Night One, but **Sticker** pressed the idea that getting in one kill was worth the trade of likely causing several power roles to waste their one-shot ability and possibly get caught. Don’t care for that line of reasoning one bit.
>
> Vote **Inner Stickler**

On Day 1 Hal talked mostly about strategy and got some heat from Stanislaus for it. I agreed then that it was worthy of some suspicion, but it was the post above that really started pinging me. He is pushing the idea that Inner is scum based on disagreeing with Inner’s assessment of a situation. The thing is, I don’t see how Inner’s view is scummy.

> [@Hal\_Briston](#):
>
> Goddamn laptop and its random reboots, chewing up the post I just spent 15 minutes on…
>
> To sum it up, I don’t agree with most of the individual points you made against **Inner** , but that’s because I’m looking at it from a playstyle perspective. I wouldn’t vote for **Inner** based on the posts of his that you highlighted because most of them we’re posts that I could have easily made myself.
>
> However, just because that proves (to me, at least) that a townie could make those posts, doesn’t guarantee to me that **Inner** is town. It just means he was making points in a townie style. So I saw no reason to give him the benefit of the doubt when the “no reason for scum to lay low” post set off my scumdar.
>
> As to my actual problem with his position, it seems to me that if we go with his “can’t see scum voluntarily forgoing a NK position”, that gives up bad info about what powers have been used and what ones remain. And I’m not about to suggest that all blockers/protectors pipe up and say “nope, I didn’t do anything last night” just to prove his position.
>
> Anyway, my vote on him is a moot point now…just didn’t want to leave the question unanswered.

I am not sure how Inner’s view has any effect on the info we get about what powers have been used and what remain. He simply thought that a block or protect likely happened last night. I don’t see how that is encouraging any power role to either speak up or lay low. At this point, it does really seem that Hal is reaching for a vote.

> [@Hal\_Briston](#):
>
> I can get behind this idea. He’s certainly pinged me, so I’m fine with the move. If he’s town, woohoo, getting another confirmed would be sweet. If he’s scum, then we have a no-brainer toMorrow. The only problem would be him turning up scum and then that no-brainer becoming a “no-discussioner”, but we can cross that bridge if we need to.
>
> Vote **Snickers**

Here, Hal jumps on my idea to have Visor pardon whoever the lynch is toDay and then uses it to justify voting Snickers. While I obviously have no problem with a vote on Snickers, I think it should be supplied with some reason you suspect she is scum. Hal looked like he was reaching for a vote earlier and now seems to be taking this opportunity to make an “easy” (no justification needed) vote.
I am still highly suspicious of Snickers (and I doubt anything but a confirmation of her alignment would relieve the suspicion), but the above is enough for me to switch to Hal.

**Unvote Snickers**
**Vote Hal Briston**
I haven’t gone back and looked closely at Babale yet, she is next, then fubbleskag, but I don’t know if I can do it all by Day’s end or not.

I’m quoting this for the benefit of all remaining townies, in the event I get lynched toNight.

From my perspective, you’ve just admitted to being the worst scum hunter in the game so far, or, to being actual scum.

This can be read two ways. A admission of deliberate lurking, or an expression of exasperation. I’m certain **Kelly** doesn’t mean the former, regardless of his alignment.

I don’t think **Kelly** is a good lynch toDay. His “dummy spit” comment irritated me, but that doesn’t make him scum. **Kelly** is based in Australia, so we are unlikely to get anything more from him before the lynch.

In my head, it’s about 60/40 that **fubbleskag** is scum. That’s good odds at this stage. Other things I’ve picked up on:

- Tonal change. Aggressive early on, now coming across as meek.
- Expressed suspicion of mismatched role PMs, but hasn’t followed up on it by voting **gnarlycharlie**. If his claim is fake, he really doesn’t want to see a **gnarly** flip. To be fair, he’s not very active toDay for out of game reasons, so I can’t be sure on this point.

Kelly has five votes; you missed Babale’s vote in 566.

I need to reread Today and chase down some thoughts before voting.

I’m not convinced this will work, mostly because I agree with those who feel the plan is built on several assumptions, and you only need one to be wrong and the whole thing goes up in smoke.

The pardoner used their power because they knew the lynched player was Town (assuming that Visor was the Pardoner, which I think he is). Saving an unknown who turns out to be Mafia has a huge downside - the next Day becomes utterly predictable (and also another chance for the Brotherhood to use the Spear.)

I don’t think the Spear will stop the lynch. From the rules: -

I like you Maha, I really do, but this seems singularly unhelpful to me. Certainly I, who has played many many games cannot predict very well what observations will be regarded as astute. Many times I’ve posted what I thought were well-thought out and cogent analyses only to find myself lynched. I cannot judge another player for not performing up to a standard that I can’t hold myself to. And Kelly is right. If we castigate people for not talking and the minute they start we string em up, next time (if there is one) they’ll go right back to not talking.

Of the two players, I think I’d rather see Fubbleskag lynched at this juncture. I get a real frustrated townie vibe off Kelly while fubs seems colder and more calculating.

This is the post that started pinging me with Babale. He votes Mosier without even mentioning the claim that he made. He does give a justification for his vote, and while I don’t really agree with it, I don’t mind the vote itself as much as the complete lack of even mentioning Mosier’s claim.

Backs off the Mosier vote without a real explanation of why he no longer feels Mosier is scum. Jumps on the TexCat wagon with TexCat already in the lead. Uses TexCat’s self-defense vote as a reason (I know opinions differ on this, but I am fine with self-defense votes, but either way I don’t think they indicate scum). He also says the vague “other signs” worry him.

Why does he suspect Alka? Here he casts a second vote without really giving a good reason.

Obviously, I find Babale very suspicious, but I am going to keep my vote on Hal. I just think with Babale being a new player, there is a greater chance that I reading him wrong.

If those vote totals are right, then Kelly is still in the lead. I am fine with that. Of all the players with multiple votes against them currently, the only one that I am really against lynching is Alka. I doubt that all four of Kelly, fubbs, Babale, and Hal are scum, but I think any of them have a decent chance of being scum.
On refresh, it looks as if fubbs has gone into the lead. Like I said, I am fine with any of the four I mentioned above (or Snickers).

Don’t be betting on the Pardoner! If you vote for someone, it means you want them dead.

Excuses of “I didn’t really mean for them to be lynched” should not be tolerated. Accountability is all!

I’m going to

**Vote Hal Briston**.

I found myself nodding in agreement with most of Suburban Plankton’s [post=15257029]post 536[/post]. I’ve already commented on the Day 2 votes for Snickers elsewhere (see [post=15250800]post 485[/post], and please forgive the borked tags; I thought I’d cleaned them up). That leaves only Hal’s, and I did not like it. Mostly because, as SP [points out (and I verified for myself) Hal talks to or about Snickers in only two posts in the whole game prior to his Day 3 vote in [post=15255039]post 513[/post].

Hal’s motive for that post is a “What a great idea! Let’s force a Townie to use his restored power at a time of our choice.” I’ll repeat what I said earlier; attempting to order a Town power role to perform to orders is useless, firstly because you cannot exercise any oversight of the PM Visor sends to Storyteller, and second because it lets the Mafia meddle with the power use.

On top of that, of course, is the reasonable supposition that Visorslash didn’t actually receive the dose of the restorative, either because Sinjin didn’t pick it or because she decided not to use it on a Pardoner but instead rejuvenated one of the investigators, two of which had claimed by Day 2.

Saving an unknown who turns out to be Mafia has a huge downside - the next Day becomes utterly predictable (and also another chance for the Brotherhood to use the Spear.)

You may be right. Here is the description of the Bloody Spear:

1. The Bloody Spear: Use of this weapon occurs by Day, and its function is very simple; it is used to attack and kill a target, though certain abilities may keep it from working. Unfortunately, use of the Bloody Spear is an extremely public action, and its user will be seen (and thus identifiable as Scum) by the entire game population.

It doesn’t really say where the spear falls in precedence over other actions, such as pardoning.

I do agree entirely with Stanislaus’ latest post. Please, please, please don’t be voting for someone you think is town and counting on the Pardoner to save them. It’s an interesting gambit and I’d really like to see it in action but I think it’s too loosey-goosey right now.

I’ve already explained my reasoning. You, or whoever else wants to, can hold me accountable for my strategy if the summoner doesn’t use their power today.

No it doesn’t, but I think the rule makes it clear that all Day actions resolve at Dusk, the same time as the lynch.

Besides, when I said Storyteller doesn’t like powers resolving instantly, I really meant that. There’s a game in this group’s history (Last Bastion on [idlemafia.com](http://idlemafia.com)) where Storyteller was killed out in the middle of one Day with little or no warning. He did _not_ like it. He’d never put a role like that in one of his games, simply because he’s been on the receiving end and had his fun ruined.

If I’m wrong, I’m wrong. But I really doubt it.
