I have just got home, I literally landed about half an hour ago and have just switched my PC on. I thought I would have had time to vote and I am a bit upset that I didn’t make it in time. I’m not sure who I would have voted for, as you can imagine, I have just skimmed the last page.

Scathach votes for Inner. Svejk votes for Scathach. When Scathach is actually in danger, Svejk switches his vote… to Scathach’s target.

Suspicious much?

Tomorrow, I’m voting for Svejk. If Svejk turns up scum, there’s a solid chance that Scathac is also scum. Svejk is the better first lynch, because his alignment tells us more about Scathac than vice-versa.

Thanks for typing that up, **Astral**. I know you can’t edit, but for the record, my vote for **Inner Stickler** should have **Inner** ’s name in blue. This way everyone can better remember my stupidity, sigh.

Anyway. **orcenio** is online _now_, so there’s no excuse for him not to pop in and tell us exactly WTF is up with his lack of participation.

Otherwise, can we nudge or sub him out or whatever? IIRC **Drain Bread** had voluteered as a sub if necessary.

Sorry for sounding snippy, but I’m irked. What can I say, I always take town lynchings (especially when I voted for 'em) very hard. :mad:

Yipe, **Astral** , should you be announcing your intentions so early in the Night? If this were a murder mystery novel you’d be the reckless middle-aged housewife who announces that she knows who the murderer is and will be going to the police the next day with her eyewitness testimony… only to be the next on the killer’s hit list.

But it isn’t a murder mystery. If he wants to share, he can if he wants to. I see no harm.

My problem with this rationale is that it rests on me being scum. That being the case, why would you vote for Svejk over me?

Also, I’m just not understanding Guiri in this game. I’ve played with him before (wahey) and he’s always found me scummy, so it’s not that. I’m also ok with his prosecution lawyer type gameplay (I shall sprinkle all my posts with PROBING QUESTIONS).

What I still find odd is his vote for Inner. He’s found me suspicious since the beginning of the game, so why would he vote Inner for voting me? But whatever I way I read it, I can’t come up with a scum reason for him doing so. Like,

If he’s town: He voted for Inner because despite finding me suspicious, he found Inners vote on me more suspicious due to it’s lack of backup. (But why would he find someone suspicious for voting for someone he finds suspicious?)
If he’s scum: He voted for Inner because he thought I’d be lynched, knew I’d flip town and so didn’t want to be on my bandwagon (not expecting Svejk’s vote change). But that makes no sense because his was the tying vote, so either way he’d be on a town bandwagon

Svejk made the 180, not you. He was active, you were passive. If we lynch you and you’re town, it tells us nothing about him, as he could be scum backing off a town lynch or town reconsidering his vote.

If we lynch HIM, however, a much clearer picture will emerge regarding you.

It wasn’t a time of day when I could stop and make a post when I read Svejk’s vote switch, but my mental response was about the same as Special Ed’s. My next thought, though, was “would he be that obvious about it?” He is a new player, however, and not realized just how suspicious he seemed. Or Scathach could be a scum power and he thought the play was worth it to have her live one more Night.

So, yeah, I think I will be voting Svejk tomorrow also.

Wow, what a day! I hope\*\* fubbles\*\* and\*\* Mahaloth\*\* get along a bit better, that was rather unpleasant.

**Scathach** voted for\*\* Inner\*\* first and then\*\* choie\*\* made her case against him.

**Choie** did seem to have a really strong case against\*\* Inner\*\* and she was wrong about him, there were quite a few people that jumped on that bandwagon and I would assume (I know, I know, assuming is bad) that at least one of them would be scum. It was a good case and I might have gone along with it too if I had been around, it’s easy looking at things with 20/20 hindsight.

Until **Astral** pointed it out I hadn’t really noticed **Svejk** ’s jump from **Scathach** to **Scathach** ’s target, it does look a bit fishy. My first thought was that\*\* choie\*\* was scum because she had such a strong case against\*\* Inner\*\* but now I am not so sure. It would be very odd if all 3 of them were scum.

Blegh, I don’t feel like writing a long post to sort out all of the far-fetched allegations against me - but I feel that if I don’t speak up now things will get further out of hand.

When I voted **Scathach** , I thought I’d made a reasonable case but nothing more than that. At the time, there was only one vote in place against \*\*Stickler \*\*- it was Scathach’s. Vote leader at the time was **Septimus** , who was to gain more votes until he announced that he is the Doctor.

**Choie** then made her extensive case against **Stickler** , which I [liked](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showpost.php?p=14543499&postcount=527). I called attention to the fact that I shared and had previously voiced some of the complaints against **Stickler**. She pointed out to me [here](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?p=14544951#post14544951)that if I disliked Stickler, then why vote Scathach, who also disliked and voted against Stickler? I conceded that this was a [fair point](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showpost.php?p=14545026&postcount=537) and that I’d have to think about this.

By this time, **Septimus** had announced, and the four voters against \*\*Septimus \*\*all unvoted. **Fubbleskag** later revoted \*\*Septimus \*\*, \*\*Guiri \*\*voted for **Stickler** , **Mental Guy** for **Scathach** , and **Astral Rejection** never renewed his vote after unvoting.

With \*\*Hirka T’Bawa \*\*out of the woodworks all of a sudden, voting for \*\*Scathach \*\*as well, **Inner Stickler** ’s unmotivated vote for \*\*Scathach \*\*already in place, and **Mental Guy** hopping on the bandwagon too, \*\*Scathach \*\*was now in the lead. A case that I had thought was reasonable at best, and that I had voiced my own doubts about, was now leading the race, and I did not feel comfortable with that. The pile-on that had occured had made me feel less certain about my vote and I did not want to be an accessory to a bandwagon.

**Stickler** , at that point, had gotten a third vote from **Guiri**. I felt that the votes against \*\*Stickler \*\*had been based on better motivations than the votes against **Scathach**. The fact that \*\*Scathach \*\*and \*\*Stickler \*\*voted against each other here more or less cancels each other out; in **Scathach** ’s case, at least her vote for **Stickler** had some justification. So rather than be with \*\*Hirka \*\*and \*\*Mental Guy \*\*who have both contributed little and who I don’t really trust, and assist them in bandwagoning **Scathach** , I decided to switch my vote to a case that I had already voiced my sympathy for.

This is not [backpedaling](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?p=14547651#post14547651)or [making a 180](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showpost.php?p=14550261&postcount=592). It is shifting a vote between cases that I vacillated between, which is something that I’ve been upfront about.

I don’t really understand the suggestion (which is false) that I would have been involved in some type of vote engineering, starting a bandwagon for one or the other. There is no way in hell that anyone could have pulled that off. For one thing, **Septimus** declaring is completely unforseeable to anyone in the game but him, and that happening completely changed Day 2 and the way voting was shaping up, because all of a sudden it freed up four votes (\*\*Fubbleskag \*\*was later to revote for **Septimus** ). Moreover, so many people abstain (only 11 out of 17 people voted on Day 2, even less percentage-wise than Day 1 when 16 out of 20 people voted) that it makes the dynamics between the few who do vote much harder to account for and to predict, since a relatively small number of votes already constitutes a reasonable probability that the votee gets in trouble.

In sum, I find the allegations made against me facile, anyone who gives them more than a modicum of thought and who goes back to read my posts, placing them in the context of Day 2, will understand that there’s really not much of a basis to them. It is not really clear what interests my shifting votes from \*\*Scathach \*\*to **Stickler** would serve, and it is clearly false that anyone would be able to have engineered voting on Day 2 with all the exogenous things that were going on. I don’t really understand why \*\*Astral \*\*and \*\*Mental \*\* are so rushed to jump on me, announcing their votes during the Night when for all we know all three of us might lie dead in the Morning. What’s the rush?

Wrong, wrong wrong and Bah! and even Fie! on you!

Let me explain the suggestion to you (at the risk of returning to my old playstyle)

Assume for the moment, you and Scathach are both Scum:

1. Scathach is in no danger of being lynch. There are no votes currently.
2. Others look much much more likely to be lynched.
3. You are confident Town might lynch one of their own.
4. You cast a moderately reasonable case against a teammate. Knowing that if you die, he might look a touch more Town, and if he dies, you might look a touch more Town.
5. You also comment on other cases against Townies. I mean, it’s great to get more of them lynched.

When suddenly!

1. Scathach takes the lynch lead.
2. Inner follows close behind.
3. You weight your options, do you lose a Scum buddy at this point for a tiny bit of Townie Cred?
4. Or do you switch your vote to Inner, who you had commented on earlier and save your Scum buddy for at least another Day?

```auto
Now, is it an iron clad case? No, of course not. But it is highly suspicious.
```

It is quite difficult coming back from a weeks hiatus and trying to make sense of everything, you lose the mood somewhat. I posted cos I didn’t want to be subbed out and I didn’t get a chance to read everything. I have now read every thing so I have no excuse whatsoever about not participating 🙂

If **Svejk** was scum, why did he just randomly vote for me, I was as mad as a snake when he did so… ( I have wanted to change my name to LynchBait cos I seem to be an easy target) I controlled myself and said F%&\*($##@ Ok that was under my breath. I was very annoyed because I tend to say what I think and then I am called scum, but to be called scum by [random.org](http://random.org) was just too much for me so I stayed quite. By staying quite people thought I was scum, I was not writing enough fluff. Damned if you do and damned if you don’t! Got that off my chest 🙂

I am still not sure who to vote for tomorrow but\*\* choie\*\* had a really good case against **Inner** , was it too good and yes I suppose it is a FOS.

This is when I get into trouble, most of you are waking up and it’s my bedtime. I would like a response to what I have written and I will probably get one tomorrow morning (for me) Not an excuse for what I think but more real time would be great.

You have two #5s in your list. Scum tell 😃

Anyway, I can see the scenario you are describing as suspicious, but surely you (and others) can’t be contending that any of this might have been planned beforehand - and if you concede that it could not have been planned, that would then lend at least some credit to my side of the story. In retrospect I certainly wish I’d just kept my stupid mouth shut. Still, at the time I did not know that **Stickler was town, and I suspected that he was not. I was faced with two lynch candidates both of whom I thought were likely scum. The voting trend for Scathach** undermined my faith in my own thinking, and the case against **Stickler** became the more convincing one. I thought I’d do the right thing.
