Actually I just looked and nearly had a heart attack because I misread it (the word “Mafia” was in it, that’s all I’ll say) and immediately thought “oh holy crap, have I been on the wrong team the whole time???” Which was stupid because the scums would surely have been wondering why I wasn’t joining them in their little scumcave by now, right?

You just looked at it now? Not when I asked Septimus if he’d edited his role PM nor when Fubbleskag asked everyone to look at theirs?

He didn’t, see above.

If he’s really the doc he’ll just protect himself and that won’t confirm him–unless it’s a vig, in which case I guess the vig would probably have to come out of the closet and say whether he’d been blocked/prevented/whatever the correct term is. And then we’ll have outed our vig and not necessarily confirmed **septimus** (because aren’t there Mafia roles with immunity of some kind?). So is it worth it to out our vig? … assuming we have one? And whoever that person is could actually be a Serial Killer _claiming_ to be a vig.
>
> …My God this game is complicated.

Yes, this is true, There are a couple options on what could happen:

1. The town vig shoots **Septimus** and he self protects and there is no 2nd kill
2. The town vig doesn’t shoot at **Septimus** , there is 2 kills, and no one knows what happened.
3. **Septimus** isn’t the doctor, and it was all a gamble, and the town vig shoots and kills him
4. **Septimus** is a scum with a night kill protection, the vig shoots, no 2nd kill, and scum **Septimus** is pretty much confirmed\*\*, Then blames his long lasting in the game on scum being too scared to attack him.,
5. The is a SK and no Vig, he doesn’t shoot **Septimus** since it will interfere with his chances of killing all to win
6. **Septimus** is self protect, SK shoots him, no 2nd kill, and claims to be a town vig. We end up loosing to the 3rd party SK
7. **Septimus** is scum with a self protect ablility, SK shoots him, no 2nd kill, we lose to scum or SK.
8. **Septimus** is scum, calls off the scum kill, lets the SK shoot, only 1 kill, and claim he was protected, and becomes semi-confirmed.
9. Something else which I haven’t listed…

So, yes, you’re right… This game is VERY complicated!

The other thing that I find a bit odd is that he answers a lot of questions with smilies, what’s up with that? Then his very first vote to abstain. Altogether it mounts up and I think it makes him look very scummy.
>

EOD is in less then 10 hours, and you vote for someone with only one vote, and not either of the two vote leaders, when there is a tie?

Of **Mahaoth** or **Svejk** , who do you think is most likely scum? If you don’t want the lynch to go to a die roll, you might have to pick one of them.

I think you missed the near-simulpost with **Silver Jan** , **Hirka**. She voted for **fubbleskag** , for reasons that are a few days old, but maybe that’s because she’s still catching up.

Anyway I think your post makes good sense for the most part, and I agree we need something that gets us somewhere. Just a couple o’ things:

> [@Hirka\_T\_Bawa](#):
>
> So, he votes for todays other lynch candidate early on day one, for a random vote **Svejk** made. While it wasn’t the best vote ever, it was a decent one to start day one I think… Also, I think this pretty much rules out **Mahaloth** and **Svejk** as being scum together. **I don’t see a scum voting first for another scum for a random vote on day one.**

Emphasis mine. I think this question is almost touching for its ingenuousness (and I’m being sincere here!): But seriously: if they’re scum together, why would you believe that any of their votes were really random?

> [@](#):
>
> I’m not going to comment on this, **Fubbles** and **Mahaloth** seem to have had an OOG issue in this game. I’m not trusting any comments from each of them about each of them, including votes.

Quoted for truth. Honestly guys, if you’re both Town (or even just one of you is), please knock it off with the 'tude, suck it up, and play the game without letting your various grudges do your voting for you!

> [@](#):
>
> Basically, I’m not seeing an actual case on **Mahaloth** , no one is actually accusing him of acting scummy, and I honestly don’t see why he on the highest vote getters. If we do lynch **Mahaloth** , and he is scum, what info does that give us towards other scum? If he is town, what info does that give us to semi-clear other town? Basically? What do we really get out of lynching **Mahaloth**?
>
> There are 14 people still alive, 6 of us are already dead. If we lynch **Mahaloth** , that would be 13 alive, then at this rate at End of Night, only 11 of us will be left, and then who do we lynch Tomorrow? **Svejk** would be a much better lynch for today. At least if we lynch him and he comes out town, we’ll get some information. We lynch **Mahaloth** and what do we get?

I see where you’re coming from, but honestly, if we lynch _anyone_ who turns out to be scum, we should be damn happy with that. I don’t particularly care if it doesn’t get us further info–at this point, a dead scum is a gold-plated prize for us, even if he doesn’t come with optional extras.

Let’s not ask for the moon; we have the stars. (Actually right now we have bupkis, but I’m hoping against hope our luck is about to change. I got some really good news today and I’m looking to make this a roll – let’s lynch some dirty bastard whoever he is!)

> You just looked at it now? Not when I asked Septimus if he’d edited his role PM nor when Fubbleskag asked everyone to look at theirs?

I know, right? It’s kind of weird and not like me to be so incurious. I think it was 'cause I had no intentions of revealing my PM or doing any handshaking at that point, so I didn’t even bother, especially since in my experience the game mods are way too smart to telegraph anything by using a single format for role PMs.

The reason I’ve been scared off the whole “let’s handshake” routine was the other game I’ve played, where attempts at handshaking led to at least one or two townies’ downfalls and resulted in a quagmire that took over the discussion for both days and Days. **Silver Jan** can testify to that, as can **gnarlycharlie** and whoever else was in that game.

I will say, however, that the mere simplicity of a handshake being revealing – for example, some scumbucket seeing the word “mafia” in their PM and editing it out for public consumption because they didn’t realize _everyone_ had that in their PM – well, that appeals to the Agatha Christie fan in me. It’s that sort of old-school mystery twist.

But it’s too neat and again, I think the game mod is wise enough not to create identical PMs.

Dang that’s some good analysis right there. Raises another question: Does a doctor know if he person he protected (even if it’s himself) was attacked in the first place? Or does that vary with different games? I understand that the attacker will probably be told something like “you tried to stab/shoot/garotte **choie** but somehow someone got in the way and you couldn’t go through with it” or whatever. But does the Doctor who saved this hypothetical version of **choie** realize what happened? (Ditto the hypothetical version of **choie**?)

Maybe she genuinely finds **fubbles** scummier than the other two. That said, there was something a bit less-than-inspired in that vote. As I mentioned above, it seemed sort of rote. A rote vote, I note. (Sorry, I’m pulling an all-nighter and am not at my best…) Anyway I mean, she cites **fubbles** ’s infamous abstention and then his smilies. We’ve all kvetched about those issues but it seems like it’s long past the time we should care about 'em. There are other fish to fry.

That said I certainly wouldn’t object to a **fubbles** lynch (sorry dude) because as I’ve said his game play has been _super_ vague and frustrating. But I just don’t know if vague + frustrating = scum.

Thank you, I think I glossed over it initially, but I see both of y’alls comments now… This is starting to really make me suspicious of **Septimus** (well, more then I was an hour ago)… I’m going to wait for his response, or for someone to vouch for him… Otherwise, I think he might have FOS for tomorrow.

True, something like this could have been planned out before posting. I could see scum doing almost anything. However, I honestly don’t see scum doing that, seems weird for scum to bring themselves into the limelight like this, first vote over all, and them someone voting them about it? Seems to risk too much of a spotlight to scum for me.

I agree, if we lynch scum, Way to go us! However, I have serious doubts about **Mahaloth** being scum, and I honestly believe it would be a wrong lynch. I don’t know why, but for some reason I’m actually getting a strong Town feel from **Mahaloth**. He just isn’t acting scummy to me…[Meta] I don’t think I’ve actually defended anyone since I defended **Astral** back in my 2nd game, the one before De’reene, when he exposed himself as cop on day one, and I was one of the few to believe him[/Meta].

If we had other options at this point, I think I would entertain them, but, I just don’t see anything scummy about **Mahaloth**.

We seem to agree that Scum **Svejk** with Town **Scathach** is the _least likely_ possibility. That’s why votes on **Svejk** don’t make sense. We should vote for whoever is most likely to be Scum. If we Lynch **Scathach** and he flips Town that will soft-clear **Svejk** , but the converse is not true.

If we Lynch **Scathach** and he flips Scum we may not be sure whether to Lynch **Svejk** or not, but those voting **Svejk** are willing to Lynch him now, even without the extra evidence that **Scathach** is Scum. This makes me very suspicious of the **Svejk** voters.

> Bah! a thousand times bah!
>
> You don’t even hint at any suspicion on our parts, but ask others to post cases that you can me too?
>
> Bah! Fie!

Damned if I do, and damned if I don’t. The reason I mention vague suspicions is that I think Town needs to cooperate to find Scum. You’re on my list because of your vote for **Švejk**. I’ve had nothing but strong Town vibes from him; the only suspicious action I’ve seen is the vote-switch to save his alleged scum-buddy, but that’s predicated on **Scathach** being Scum. In that case why not vote for Scathach? I’m beginning to suspect Scathach is Scum, but Scum wants to take down a few of the innocents “protecting” him first. And your tone definitely seems different this game, **special ed** ; perhaps the only reason I’m not voting you is that you _always_ seem different! 🆒 So Bah! Fie! back at you.

**choie** was on the scathach-saving team and also has a changed more-confident tone than in the previous game. Is it wrong to ask if others are pinged by her?

I get Scum vibes from **Mahaloth** but strong Town vibes from **Svejk**. Svejk voters continue to cite Astral:

> [@Astral\_Rejection](#):
>
> Svejk made the 180, not you. He was active, you were passive. If we lynch you and you’re town, it tells us nothing about him, as he could be scum backing off a town lynch or town reconsidering his vote.
>
> If we lynch HIM, however, a much clearer picture will emerge regarding you.

If (as I believe) Svejk is “town reconsidering his vote” then his town-flip will tell us nothing about Scathach. In other words, the Svejk voters seem to agree **Scathach** is more likely to be Scum. The question is whether Svejk voters are deluded Townies, or conniving Scum.

there have now been a few people indicating that the subject of their role pm matches each others, but not septimus’ - it’s a bit late toDay, but I think this needs some serious looking into.

if I reconsider my vote on Mahaloth objectively and honestly, I suspect that I may have in fact been willing to latch on to MentalGuy’s case easier than I would have if the same case had been made on anyone else.

if we assume that septimus is a false claim and that my vote on Mahaloth (who septimus says is scum) is questionable, the thing to do seems to be to switch my vote to Svejk (who septimus says is town).

the quandary is that I have a very strong town lean on Svejk. if both he and Mahaloth are town, I’d prefer to mislynch Mahaloth of the two as I feel Svejk has been more productive so far.

having said that, and in order to be fair, if those two are both town, using the same logic, it would make more sense to mislynch myself than either of them.

and I only have a couple hours to make up my mind…

Your list of people voting for Svejk is a pretty good start at making a likely-Scum list. I’m unsure of Scathach himself. If **Svejk** is Lynched and flips Town it’ll be interesting to see whether this group then goes after Scathach.

If you’re asking for a scenario connecting Mahaloth’s peculiar voting with the actions of these other Scum suspects: Sorry, my analysis is nowhere near that level. I’m not even confident that Mahaloth is Scum, and would join a bandwagon on one of the other suspects. As is, I’m leaving my vote on **Mahaloth** since, of the two frontrunners I get strong Town vibes from **Svejk** and only a Scum sense from **Mahaloth**.

(Lately I also get Town vibes from you, **GuiriEnEspaña** , but remain suspicious since we know you’re very clever as Scum!)

i just reviewed, and the people making this indication are all voting for **Svejk** , who I’m convinced is town. a known town ( **Astral** ) claims his is entirely different, and **Guiri** , who I have pretty strong town lean on, has implied the same as Astral

is it possible that some/all of the \*\*Svejk \*\*voters are scum and trying to set us up to mislynch our own doctor?

hell, if there’s 4 scum maybe there’s two voting Svejk and two voting Mahaloth, purposely creating a tie between townies to reduce the amount of heat their votes might draw when we lynch yet another townie?

for the record, here are the tie or near-tie votes from the first two Days and current Day:

Precambrianmollusc (3): septimus, wevets, fubbleskag
fisha (3): Silver Jan, MentalGuy, Inner Stickler

Inner Stickler (4): Scathach, choie, Guiri, Svejk
Scathach (3): Inner Stickler, Hirka T’Bawa, Mental Guy

Mahaloth (3): MentalGuy(723), FubblesKag(730), Septimus(785)
Svejk (3): SpecialEd(646), Hirka(663), Choie(809)

I think Day 1 can be discounted if we know scum weren’t able to communicate until Night 1 (or am I incorrect on that?)

on Day 2 and the current Day we can see that **choie** , \*\*Hirka \*\*and **Mental Guy** were all involved in tie votes.

my last few posts are incredibly speculative, perhaps even bordering on paranoid. but it’s certainly a possibility. and even if it’s not true, it’s something I might try one day if I’m ever lucky enough to play as scum.

back to the more timely dilemma. the more I think about it, the more I realize that my vote on \*\*Mahaloth \*\*is likely to be tainted; he rubs me the wrong way and I can’t honestly say with any certainty if it’s because he’s scum or not. I cannot bring myself to remove my vote from \*\*Mahaloth \*\*if it will mean certain death for **Svejk**. however, I did just notice **Silver Jan** ’s vote on myself, which may provide an out. so, in an effort to be honest with my vote, and following my own logic from an earlier post:

**unvote Mahaloth**
**vote fubbleskag**

**Septimus** , if you’re still online and have any town leaning on **Svejk** , I’d ask that you switch your vote to myself in order to save him.

I thought they had continual(Day and Night) communication.

For now, I’m keeping my vote on Choie. I still submit that I suspect:

1. Choie
2. Special Ed
3. Fubble

in that order.

So what is your decision? I see you have not come back to the thread since you posted this, it’s a shame to leave us all hanging.

As for my post, yes there is quite a bit in there about what others have said about me, about which I actually realized when I was editing it that it does not really answer any of your questions. Still, I thought it was nice to point out that there clearly is no consensus on voting for me, FWIW.

Intentional confirmation bias? There’s no such thing, of course, I am suggesting that you are faking it for nefarious reasons.

I’m right. Scum can talk at all times.

it’s not clear if they could talk during Day 1 specifically, is what I was asking about - but thanks for taking the effort to look

Dude what are you doing! We have already lost 6 town. If you are town, than you have to be more sure that you are town than that I and Mahaloth are? Why give up a toss-up between 2 possible scum and 1 possible scum and yourself? I have trouble understanding that coming from a town POV.

the cases on \*\*gnarlycharlie \*\*are weak and weaker, so I’m definitely not comfortable putting my vote there; which wouldn’t help \*\*Svejk \*\*in any case.

**Guiri** , if you had to choose between \*\*Svejk \*\*and **Mahaloth** , who would you vote for?
