+1 to both of these. BPC thinks his passion and conviction make any tactic acceptable. I used to run into people like that back in college. Back then I took it as a sign of immaturity and lack of life experience. I still do.
eta: This has nothing to do with what I think of the posts or poster in question. I would have been fine with a straightforward challenge, but this fake concern, in a pit thread no less, is demeaning to the OP.

I’m just surprised that Magiver didn’t suggest we drop paratroopers into Alabama to double monkey punch the hurricane into submission.

Do not, however, attempt to discredit someone else’s perspective by pretending to care that they’re exhibiting signs of brain malfunction. If you do it jokingly, and it’s obvious that you do it jokingly, I’m not offended personally, but if I were moderator (and moderating according to my above-described moratorium) I’d consider it a slope too slippery to monitor. I’d totally zero-tolerance policy your ass.
If you do it intending to be taken seriously, you’re way the fuck out of line.

You want a moderator to jump into a Pit thread if someone says “You must be crazy!” to another poster? Or “There’s clearly something wrong with your head if you think that”?

I’d let those go as colloquialisms.
Asking “did you forget to take your meds?” or “Hey everybody I think we need to worry about **Poster X** , I think she’s decompensating” or “please make an appointment with your therapist” — anything invoking medical conditions of a psychiatric or neurological variety — are not colloquialisms.

You know what? You’re right, this is unfair to the mentally ill and probably below the belt. **Magiver** isn’t crazy. He’s just an asshole. I’m sorry I went there when far more fitting insults almost certainly existed that wouldn’t throw people with dementia under the bus.
