Mail sent to non-existent address

Yes - I guess I wasn’t clear , but I was trying to say that something similar could be the reason the bank didn’t received the envelope returned as non-deliverable.

Gotcha, I see what you’re saying now. I suppose it might also be a slower process for undeliverable mail to make backwards through the system to be returned to the sender.

I’m sure they did, but in my experience on these phone calls, most of the workers there don’t even realize this department exists so I’m sure it is in the bank’s own dead letter department.

I mailed something to my daughter at college. She lives in a triple decker, and I neglected to put 3rd floor or Apt 3. It was returned to me as undeliverable about 3 weeks after I mailed it.

I wrote Apt 3 on it and put it back in the mail, she got it 11 days later, which is still insanely long, she lives in a reasonably large city less than 200 miles from me.
