The cases quoted by Cecil were mere beginners compared to Reg Spiers of Adelaide. In 1964 he had himself air-freighted in a wooden box from England to Australia to attend his daughter’s birthday. It took 63 hours and he nearly died of dehydration when his crate was offloaded for a while in India. He wasn’t so lucky later in his life when he did five years in jail for cocaine smuggling. As far as I know he is still alive and living in Adelaide. You can read about him online. ---
