[That’s what the latest scientific study says.](http://www.nature.com/news/2005/051128/full/051128-5.html)

Hmm. Think I’d better get started on that novel I’ve always said that I was going to write!

Anecdotal evidence supports this: Modigliani was so unsuccessful that he died of malnutrition, but but he still attracted women who would’ve thought him a loser if he were making ten times as much sweeping the streets.

Robert Longo (famous for painting narcoleptic yuppies in the '80s) said that he became an artist because in college he’d seen how visiting artists came to his school, put up their works in the gallery, and got laid.

Maybe it’s because artists start out painting still lifes with fruit, then eat the fruit. later, when they work up to nudes…

(The unsettling thing about your link was that artists had 5-6 partners, non-artists 4. Um, was that just for one year? Is there a “oops - I’m a slut” smiley?)

Waitaminnit, dammit! I’m a schizophrenic and therefore have ‘traits similar to those of schizophrenics’, how come it doesn’t work for me?

Wait a minute! According to the story, the artistic types _reported_ they had more sexual partners than the average person.

Maybe all it means is that artistic types lie about how much sex they’re getting better than the rest of us.

My anecotal observations, from having associated with a group of youngish artists in Paris in the '90s, is that the study is correct. Went at it like rabbits, most of them did.
