No matter that people who don’t understand Rock and Roll may claim that it’s all the same, and it’s only a handful of chords, and is simple and mindless- AC/DC kept it simple and are still the ONLY ones who did what they did. No peers. Rest in Rock, Malcom! ---

I’ve also always loved the way he looked on stage. He must’ve been a multi-millionaire at least since the massive success of _Back In Black_, but he always looked like the bloke next door, washed-out jeans and washed-out t-shirt, standing a bit in the background, doing his thing and letting his brother have the stage. ---

To be fair, they all looked like they’d just rolled off the tour bus rat-arsed and sleep deprived. A squirt of deodorant, a quick swill of listerine and onto the stage. They made it look like anyone could be them but of course no-one was. It takes genius to look like \*that \*and sound like _that_. So here’s my own little salute to you Malcolm, you ramshackle, scruffy genius you. [doffs cap] My favourite ACDC moment was stepping into a heaving [Nederhutte](https://www.nederhuette.at/en/) for a bit of apre-ski after a hard day on the slopes. The opening strains of “thunderstruck” boomed out and the place went mental. I don’t know why they are perfect match for skiing but they simply are. Maybe because they are both primal and elemental, tapping in to our lizard brains. ---

RIP Malcom Young, While just about anything by AC/DC was good for it, Thunderstruck was the best for driving down the west slope of the Rockies on I70 The world is definitely a bit smaller, a bit emptier now. ---

Although I loved Bon Scott’s singing, Back in Black came out the summer I turned 18. Everyone had that album. It got played at every single party, and every car’s cassette or 8-track player. It was the soundtrack of that summer: a perfect album in every way. ---

A four minute interview, with Angus, Phil Rudd, but mostly Malcolm, each individually. Apprently this was when Rudd had just rejoined after 12 years. Listen to how _smart_ Malcolm is - focusing on rock n roll vs rock and breaking down why to the drums. He even beat boxes to show where the swing in their beat is. This is key stuff. It’s all in the relationship between Malcolm and Rudd - that’s their sound.
