From yesterday’s news. [The man accused of throwing a 5-year-old boy off the third floor balcony at the Mall of America in Bloomington, Minnesota Friday told police he had come to the mall that day looking for someone kill.](http://www.fox5dc.com/news/5-things-you-need-to-know/charges-man-who-threw-5-year-old-off-moa-balcony-was-looking-for-someone-to-kill) [He allegedly claimed he had made efforts to “talk to women in the Mall, but had been rejected, and the rejection caused him to lash out and be aggressive.”](https://kstp.com/news/man-accused-of-throwing-child-from-moa-balcony-makes-first-court-appearance/5319098/?cat=1) To me it sounds like the man probably isn’t part of any incel group, but there do seem to be incel type thoughts. Mostly the perpetrator seems to be mentally unstable and lacking mental health help. ---

Three weeks between plea agreement and sentencing hearing is fairly quick. That gap is usually 1-2 months, often closer to 2 months with minor delays in cases I monitor. It’s notable they reached a plea deal that soon because of the questions about his mental health. This is someone who likely ought to be monitored the rest of his life, so how well will that be taken into account if and when he’s eligible for release?
