MY neighbors show a large range of expression–from meticulous to sloppy, traditional to “unusual.” One year, some neighbors had Santa’s sleigh pulled by alligators. (Yes, they were from Louisiana; they left their decorations up until 12th Night–when they hung out the Mardi Gras flag.) I’ve seen palm trees lit up & surrounded by “gifts.” Not to mention the lighted lawn flamingos. We also have Santas, snowmen & nativity scenes. Humans create symbols. We change & the symbols change. When you finally convince some woman to have sex with you, raise your little racists any way you want. Warning: You will not be the only influence in their lives. ---
