Not angry about man buns or anything. If you want to look stupid, be my guest. The only man who wore a man bun well was John Belushi when he played his Samurai character. Otherwise, it looks like a hairy little plug a guy wears so birds won’t land on his head and peck out his brain. ---

I so agree. But the one I hate worse is that old Justin Beiber one, you know…long bangs flipped to one side, will parents of teen boys please, please stop letting them do this, it is so stupid looking! ---

Inspired by this thread I think I’ve discovered yet another Youtube vein of comedy gold. Do a Youtube search for “tao of the man bun”…first video is pretty good…and it looks like he’s got some other good parodies. ---

Mullets, mohawks (if you aren’t Mr.T or an actual native American warrior), page boys, 80’s style perms especially on men, giant afros, dreadlocks on dweeby white guys, bowl cuts like in Dumb and Dumber and many others. I actually had a mullet in my high school senior picture that my daughters love to make fun of. I didn’t even think it looked good at the time. I just thought it was great that I could twirl the back of my hair and even put it in my mouth if I wanted to. That shit got chopped off when I joined ROTC in college and I never looked back. I still have great hair but there are only a limited range of styles that actually look good for either men or women and those are well known. Everything else is just a failed experimental social experiment. ---

I already took a shot at the fauxhawk in post #4, but IMO it’s a stupid enough hairstyle that there’s plenty of room for pointed, constructive criticism, however harsh, 😉 from other people; it’s entirely possible that I’d miss one or more reasons it’s dumb if I was forced to list them by myself. 😃 ---

There’s a kid named Austin who works at the Cracker Barrel - he’s one of the folks who seats people. He’s got a man bun. It’s not attractive. Still, in the grand scheme of things, hair just isn’t a big deal. However you cut it, color it, or style it, it will grow, and if you’re patient, it’ll be normal enough for society eventually. On the other hand, if you choose to do something that I think is silly looking, I may laugh. I probably won’t come up to you and mock you to your face, but I won’t apologize if you catch me laughing. My youngest sister (who’s 52, so hardly a goofy kid) loves to color her hair unconventionally. Over the last 5 or 6 years (maybe longer) it’s been bright blue, hot pink, lime green, Golden Arches yellow, purple, aqua, rainbow rings, fire engine red, and it’s currently platinum. It drives our mother crazy, but what the heck - it’s her hair, she pays for it herself, and it doesn’t hurt anyone. Of all the things in the world to make an issue, hair isn’t anywhere near the list, IMHO. ---

Don’t get me wrong, I certainly don’t get mad about them but I do recognize the simple fact that some hairstyles are just dumb looking. There is no harm in that other than self-retardation. There is a guy at work that has one and he would be fairly good looking if he didn’t have that stupid thing on the top of his head. As far as I know, he has never been a sumo wrestler in Japan. I want to donate $20 so that he can have his hair cut so that he can look normal again but I can’t figure out the best way to approach him. It may have to be anonymous. In other news, I am thinking about growing a Hitler mustache. ---
