Depending on the guy, I think they’re hot. I saw a play just a few nights ago with a hunky Scottish guy in the lead part. Sleek black hair and brown eyes to die for, and a man bun. Totally worked. On the right guy, I think it’s an appealing mix of femininity and masculinity, and I am SO there. _drifts off into pleasant daydreams_ ---

I agree man buns are the mullets of this decade. But I’ve noticed they look especially bad on guys I already dislike. It’s like they accentuate my antipathy. Just one more thing to dislike. But I don’t mind them at all on guys I do like. ---

I agree, all I’ve seen (almost all in pictures, hardly ever IRL) look … well, frowsy. I’m sure they could certainly be done in a different way that would be much neater and more aesthetic – but would probably be widely seen as rather effeminate. I imagine that popular sloppy look is specifically to avoid that. ---

I would like to marginalize the hairstyle of guys who are practically bald, but grow out the tiny fringe of hair they have, and pull it into a ponytail. If it’s longer than 8 inches, I would like that margin to be made out of razor wire. If they have gray hair, electric razor wire. ---
