Sounds like an idiot. According to the link he was a ‘local’ who happened to be out fishing with his kids and not carrying a rifle for protection from the bears. Is that brave?

And your point is? You don’t have to be clever to be brave, but it does take that something extra to sacrifice yourself.

According to the article, he had a rifle, just not at hand.
