So, if you have sex with a goat in Sudan, you have to marry the goat. That’s great, and that’s hilarious, but… Won’t this encourage all the guys in town to rape the farmers’ daughters? The first rapist wins? ---

Offering a dowry to the first man to rape one’s goat (or be caught at it) would make for some strange economic pressures. Bride-price = paid by the groom. Dowry = money from the bride’s parents that arrive with the bride into a marriage. more or less ---
