It may also have been removed with the skin, either by skinning the bear in question or by scavengers, leaving only bones and ligaments. When I was in high school, this happened when a friend’s dog dragged in what looked like a human foot :eek: and turned out to be a bear’s hind paw. In this case it was more the size of an adult’s foot. ---
