Huh, so the sister in the final scene is from the alternate timeline because she’s dead in this one.
Since when was it confirmed she was dead?
I don’t think it was, but the theory makes sense. Especially considering the crossing-over aspect; I expect them to work more of that in with other characters.
It’s been a while but didn’t she die in Julia’s arms?
Didn’t she die in the first episode to kick off the whole adventure?
Didn’t Juliana see her dead body in the Japanese dumping ground towards the end of the first season? I’m pretty sure she did.
I don’t remember seeing Trudy’s dead body, but if that’s the case, then I stand corrected on it being alt-universe Trudy.
I liked this season as a whole much more than S1, but I was really disappointed by TMITHC’s inspirational speech to Juliana near the end of the finale.
She made the wrong choice in saving Smith (by saving his kid)! Granted, it ended up saving everyone from WWIII (because Smith was still alive to expose Haussmann/Heydrich’s plot), but there’s no way she knew that would happen. She took an action that actively harmed the resistance uprising underway.
It would have been simple to change the speech to be much more chiding: “Julia(na), you or actions saved millions from atomic destruction. Obviously, there are forces beyond our control or understanding at work here. But what the hell were you thinking?!?” Followed, perhaps, by a bullet to the head. (I really don’t like the way they’re writing / acting her character.)
The show would be much more interesting if they were willing to go darker. The characters are making difficult choices all the time. Instead, it’s got to be crystal clear that Frank and JC are good people 100% of the time (just about), and anyone who criticizes them is a, er, Dick.
Still enjoying it.
Addendum: My summary judgement is that this show is about 20% dumber than it should be. Fantastic visually, some great performances, but a big reliance on TV cliches in the writing.
I would’ve killed way more main characters by now (Kido, Juliana, probably Frank). They keep getting saved from their risky/dumb/evil actions in extremely improbable ways. The show’s set in a dystopia; it doesn’t need to be cheesy.
Frank IS dead ain’t he?
In that reality, definitely maybe. We saw Frank die in another reality in one of the films, meaning he could have traveled out of his reality before the explosion.
I must have missed Frank’s corpse post-explosion. Hopefully he is dead and we get more Childan and Ed adventures/pot smoking debriefs.
We didn’t get a shot of his corpse, but the place where he was standing was a giant hole.
Well, in that case, I’m betting he’s gonna be back alive and sulking his way through S3. :smack:
I may be in the minority on this, but making the star characters of the show boring-but-handsome (so far) has been a big irritation for me. The villains Smith and Kido, and the numerous side characters, have been so much more interesting and fun. Hell, HITLER was a more interesting character than Jules or Frank.
That was it, thank you.
Being a relative newb to using Amazon Prime, I am curious about the mention of a commentary.
Does Amazon Prime offer an alternate sound track with commentary like a DVD/Bluray? I’ve been annoyed that the show isn’t available on hard media because I was thinking that would be the only way to get commentaries and deleted scenes.
Third season confirmed:
I think this is one of the most interesting shows on TV, but at the same time feel the parallel-universe aspect confusing and hasn’t been handled particularly well. On the other hand, I’ve been loving the details of the Smith family’s life, sort of if Beaver Cleaver’s dad was in the SS. I also like the actor who plays Trade Minister Tagomi, although his extended sojourn in our(?) reality kind of dragged.
And put me down for more of the adventures of Ed and Childan. They’re a hoot.
I presume we are the alternate universe for another world where events are better. What a scary video/film it would be to see our world right now.
Yep. S3 happening.
Sorry, I am late to the party, but I just finished season 2.
Another reviewer didn’t like that she shot George to protect the Smith son, but I interpreted it differently.
If you go back to review episode one of season 2, the man in the high castle explicitly tells Julia that the only timeline that doesn’t end up with a nuked San Francisco is when mystery man (who Julia finds out is George) ends up dead in an ally while wearing a Nazi uniform.
So every time Julia talks with George, she ought to be thinking “this guy needs to end up dead in an ally, preferably wearing a Nazi uniform.” Him carrying a tape about the Smith kid being sick is just icing on top.
