Inspired by [this thread](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?p=12582210&)I thought I’d do a little unofficial poll about what songs you think are sexy or hot? Before I ever even knew what Bobby Gentry looked like, I’d listen to Son Of A Preacher Man and think I hope the person singing this song is as hot as the person she’s singing about. I guess I think of the person singing the song as the person they’re singing about) Anyway, so what songs do it for you? When you hear it you visualize the most attactive person ever? What song is your auditory version of the first time you looked at a nudie magazine and was just overwhelmed with "oh my God, this makes me feel all tingly. 🙂 ---

I think we had a thread a while back called something like “Songs that go straight to your loins”… One song that I connect to a particular person is “Bette Davis Eyes”. Yes, incredibly cheesy, I know. I was ten and had a crush on a girl named Jenny and that song always seemed to be playing on the school bus driver’s radio when I looked at her. She was pretty much unaware of my existence 😃 Generally speaking, some songs that make me feel lusty but not for a particular woman? “You Can Leave Your Hat On” (Joe Cocker) “Let’s Make It” (AC/DC) ---

Bobbie Gentry? Pshaw! “Son of a Preacher Man” will always belong to Dusty Springfield, who sang it better (and sexier) than anybody else. I don’t know why, but I find the singing on the Yeah Yeah Yeahs’s “Zero” sexy, though I’m not particularly attracted to the singer. ---

When I was a wee little Catholic school 6th-grader, the Steve Miller Band came out with “Abracadabra”. Despite my nascent gayness, that song was just…WHOOO! You just didn’t HEAR stuff like that on the radio in the early 80s. Especially the way I was hearing it… “I feel the magic in your caress, I feel the magic when I touch your breasts. Silk and satin, leather and lace, black panties with an angel’s face” Now, the real line is “when I touch your dress” but I didn’t know that. And I somehow thought the panties had an angel’s face on them. But never mind that. That whole song was the dirtiest thing poor little naive me had ever heard… ---

Remember back in junior high when you started going to dances? No one had really kissed yet, or if they had it hadn’t gone beyond that, but classmates were starting to pair up and you’d typically be dancing with that person. Remember that? Remember dancing with your “girlfriend”…the two of you were either holding each other so tight you couldn’t slip a knife blade in between or you where holding her really tight _on top_ but from the waist down you were backed off a few inches to avoid letting her know that even though the song was nice and slow, your hormones were rocking and rolling…'memeber that? To this day Aerosmith’s **Cryin’** and **Crazy** still bring back those feelings. As soon as one of those songs comes on the radio, I’m instantly transported back to eighth grade, dancing with that girl, with a boner that could knock over a street light. ---

Weird–I always associated Son of a Preacher Man with Dusty. Had no idea someone called Bobbie Gentry did it. Though I think Dusty Springfield’s version is pretty sexy as well. ---

Noting the OP’s posts in the other thread, I’ve got to believe that he is confusing Dusty Springfield’s rendition of “Son of a Preacherman” with Bobbie Gentry’s. It’s true that Bobbie also recorded the song, but it was strictly an album cut. The hit version, played on the radio. was by Dusty. And I grant that Bobbie is quite sexy in her own right. But unless the OP tells me differently, I think it’s Dusty who got his juices flowing. ---
