Managing Politics in FQ

Agreed, if there is no way to have a possible FQ answer, but they want to steer clear of making the discussion political.

I think it is satisfying to know there are gaps and holes and the like. I didn’t read the FQ re: enforcement of Court Orders, but I’d just assume Orders are followed, because they always are, but don’t know how or why.

When the answer is technically contempt, sanctions, or US Marshals, but practically, mostly based on “respect” of the Judicial Branch, that is a very good thing to know because you know how fragile our system can be.

With that said, I do get your point.

If I ask how a steam engine works, “nobody uses steam engines anymore” isn’t a good answer even if it’s a true statement. I’m not asking everyone to pretend that steam engines still drive ships across the Atlantic. Even if it’s true that were in a postconstitutional era, asking how the government is supposed to work isn’t the same as make believe.

The thing is, “we don’t really know because this is largely untested” is a perfectly good answer. It may not be satisfying discussion, but I think it’s fair to say that FQ threads have no particular obligation to be satisfying discussions.

No reason to apologize to me. I’m pretty horrible about running searches for old threads.

And if I think an OP weak, I certainly can avoid participating in it. My fault is that I tend to lose track of which forum I am in, and the different rules for the various forums.

But (and I hope I do not run afoul of ATMB rules) so much that is being done by this administration is unprecedented, and reveals how much of what many of us believed were “the rules” were in fact largely long-standing customs. No, there is no factual answer buried in the Constitution.

BTW - the Constitution - including the Amendments - is a pretty quick read. On a recent vacation I read it to prove to myself that someone misspoke. Not a bad idea to look it over every once in a while.

The board doesn’t try to satisfy every poster with every thread. If a topic doesn’t work for you, it’s your responsibility to disengage from it. Please don’t try to circumscribe what other posters find useful.

Good point.

Any answer to what will happen given a hypothetical is conjecture, by definition. The outcome of things is also dependent on who is doing the action and how people with influence feel about that person.
