I am still wondering why Boba having a clone face is bad though. Weren’t the clones the very first soldiers of the Galactic Empire after Order 66? Wouldn’t that actually give him more clout? Really loved this episode, this one and the Ahsoka episodes were the first episodes that I rewatched right away. So good. Even though it annoyed me when JJ Abrams put actors he had worked with in the movies, for some reason Bill Burr really made the episode for me. I could watch him and Mando driving around all day. They would recognize the face and instantly know he wasn’t one of the clones. ---

IIRC, it was established in _Rebels_ that all of the Clone Troopers had been decommissioned (or outright killed). Also, due to accelerated aging, a surviving Clone Trooper in _The Mandalorian_’s era would be _ancient_ - far too old physically to be a frontline soldier. ---

That said, Lucasfilm has said that it’s canon that Rex, one of the clone troopers in Clone Wars and Rebels, fought in the Battle of Endor (in _Return of the Jedi_, which is five years before _The Mandalorian_), and may be the white-bearded Rebel commando in the strike team that attacked the shield generator on Endor. Sorry, I wasn’t clear. _Rebels_ definitely did establish in canon that Rex and some other _former_ Clone Troopers survived into the Rebellion era, and could potentially have survived into the New Republic era, and Rex, at least, joined the Rebellion. IIRC, _Rebels_ also established that by the Rebellion era, the Empire had deliberately purged all remaining Clone Troopers from its ranks. No Clone Troopers are legitimate Imperial troops by that point. So, by the time _The Mandalorian_ takes place, if an Imperial terminal scans someone with the face of a Clone Trooper, it’s going to ping them as an enemy of the Empire. ---

I was thinking more along the lines that the episode will end in the middle of the battle to rescue Grogu, with it being unclear whether or not Gideon will escape with him. ---

Possibly we’ll learn both. ETA. My guess is that Grogu was unable to contact anyone. If he did, and they show up at Tython, how would they know where to go next? The only thing I can think of is that maybe Boba Fett found the tracking device that Moff Gideon planted on the Razor Crest and removed it when he recovered his armor, placed it on Slave I, and somehow rigged it so that whoever stops by Tython finds a way to follow the device. That seems far fetched, but what other option would there be at this point for whoever shows up? ---

I think they had that scene on the magic stone for a reason - if he didn’t contact anyone, why bother with that scene? They could have come up with some other way for baby to get captured. ---

One possibility is that by failing to contact a Jedi, this means that Grogu is destined to follow the path of the Mandalorian rather than the path of the Jedi. Maybe the path of the Jedi is already closed off for Grogu, as seen by his use of the force choke technique. Season 3 could be a conflict between Grogu deciding on Mandalorian vs. Sith rather than Jedi vs. Sith. ---

Is there any reason a force ghost couldn’t connect with grogu? Perhaps Yoda? Also an item on the soundtrack list for this episode hints at (possible major spoiler ahead): someone dying.
