Mandatory birth control for welfare?

And in my personal opinion, an anonymous person’s “direct personal experience that I can’t talk about” does not reach the level of a “cite” in a forum such as Great Debates.

Obviously, YMMV.

And, I provided you with *cites that more than proves her point. *

Demanding that the cites come from one person and one person only is also something we dont do in Great Debates. So, can you drop the hijack so we can get back to the actual, you know- debate?

In an ideal world, the person making the claim would provide the cite, or at least would when asked for it, rather than waiting for others to provide the cite for her at a later date.

Challenging cites is part of the debate, and not a hijack.

Cite?

I was not, in that circumstance, claiming it was a cite, only that I had personal experience and I specifically said I could not provide a cite. You’re claiming that I claimed something I did not, in fact claim and in fact specifically stated I was not claiming.

So we’re both agreed I did not make a cite so can we get back to the debate already?

We could discuss theory rather than the real world.

We could discuss what’s done in other countries.

There’s actually quite a bit left in this topic.

As you wish.

Thanks for talking it out with me.

The hell? Do you just make these things up as you go along, or do you really not understand what people are saying? I have never said anything like that.

Because I paid a specific tax to go to a specific fund, to act as a pension for me later on. Welfare just comes out of the general fund (as far as I know) that could be used for other, far more useful to society things than raising babies in poverty.

Why are so many people focused on the fact the government doesn’t set aside the specific money that was sent in from each of our paychecks? It’s not like they do that with private pensions, so I really don’t get what the point is here. Also, you do understand that if you don’t file for SSDI, that money is what you get later after you retire as your Social Security payments? That because I had to file for SSDI, I will not get as much in payments ever, than if I had been able to wait until I was at least 62?

Quite a few of us feel that spending some money on a baby in poverty is preferable to either burying said baby prematurely, or spending a lot more money on said baby once he/she grows up to be a completely dysfunctional adult.

Is it better to a fix a problem with your car when it costs $50 or wait until the problem costs $5,000? Same principal.

Tell me, how do you feel about the Earned Income Tax Credit?

Same reason you have to pay taxes to support the police, who exist mainly to deal with someone else’s irresponsibility.

Usually, the master gets something out of a master-slave relationship. What’s the government getting out of this? Votes? There is no “welfare vote” that matters.
