Per cnn: Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg declined to answer a question about if he plans to request a prison sentence for former President Donald Trump. > “The judge scheduled sentencing for July 11th. @rocking_chair , I think a lot of here are getting into good spirits. 😉 I haven’t looked, but I’m pretty sure that all the right-wingers/MAGAs are saying, “Just wait for the appeal; this verdict will be thrown out,” and similar. But they don’t really know what an appeal is—a good number of them, maybe most, think it’s a do-over. IAAL, but not a New York one, and I saw that Merchan took great care to not do things that could give rise to an appeal. His jury instructions were a great example: plain, simple language that explains to the layperson just what the jury’s task was, and explained various concepts that laypeople might not know. No legalese, no ten-dollar words, nothing that could confuse a juror, which could give rise to an appeal. ---
