Generally, I’d be fine but Trump has commented about things like a third term or being a president for life.
Holding his prison sentence until after he’s served his term incentivizes him to try and make that into a reality.

That’s how I would set it up if it were up to me. Trump gets sentenced (and presumably goes to jail) on Jan 20, 2029 at 12:01pm. If he isn’t done being President by then, that is too bad for him.

He isnt going to prison in the first place. Most likely a fine, supervised release and years of suspended sentences.

Not so much- at least in NY you are allowed to stay out on bail until your first appeal has been heard on non-violent offenses. Even “normal persons”. Well, those that can hire a decent lawyer.,

If I was a New York resident and got a summons for jury duty, I’d be tempted to call the court and tell them I’m not coming. What’s the point of giving up weeks of my life, sitting through days of testimony, and rendering a just verdict if the court is just going to shrug and let a convicted felon go free?

How about a sentence of house arrest? He can leave the White House on essential duties as President, but is confined the rest of the time. No leaving to play golf. No leaving for Republic Party business. No attending rallies in support of candidates.

Many in the magasphere say that he’s not ‘convicted’ until this step - I also thought he was ‘convicted’ with the Jury verdict - but remember at least one trial (that i paid attention to) that the conviction wasn’t done until the Judge handed down the sentencing.
Or maybe that was only a formality in the procedure to announce it from the Judge’s bench - but that the conviction is recorded with the Jury’s statement.
Hence the question.
Or more correctly - I am thinking of the [Judgement](https://www.americanbar.org/groups/public_education/resources/law_related_education_network/how_courts_work/judgment/) phase - that hasn’t happened yet either.
