# Manhattan Prosecutors file criminal charges for Trump re Stormy Daniels case - ongoing discussion here (Guilty on all 34 counts, May 30, 2024)

Ah, well, short answer: there’s a lot of misinformation on the internet, and many of Trump’s supporters are particularly susceptible to it.
Slightly longer answer: yeah, he was convicted, the judge accepted it and entered it into the record, and Trump is accurately described as a convicted felon. But instead of being remanded to custody until sentencing (which was a possibility, albeit not with high likelihood), he was released on his own recognizance until the sentencing. That is not too unusual a step for this particular situation, though the long delay between conviction and sentencing is understandably exasperating to many people (no doubt including the folks at the Court). The fact that he’s more or less free to roam about has been used to spread misinformation, including the idea that he has not yet been convicted at all.

Because they don’t like to admit that their messiah is a convicted felon, but he is in every sense of the word. (Technically, legally, literally, etc.)

Yeah, that _is_ something a few of us have realized for quite a while: the safe bet has always been that the man is and _was_ never going to spend Night One in a cell for what they can get him on in this case.

What happens if Trump makes Judge Merchan go away before 2029? I assume it would be similar to the Georgia case where the prosecutor got put on trial for the crime of having a boyfriend and the case just fizzled and will probably never be acted on because whoever is next in line doesn’t want to go through that kind of thing. If Merchan is jailed or worse, which judge would want to be next in dealing with this especially knowing what it could mean?

As in, remanded to jail awaiting trial? Or thrown in prison after a Wyoming jury trial? That sucks for Merchan and his family.
If we have Speaker Jeffries in January 2027, as seems probable, he will be urged by many to impeach Trump (and, if confirmed, Bondi) for that. I hope the congressional Democrats will have learned by then the lesson that you do not impeach without votes in hand for Senate conviction.

How about they convict him to actual prison, and he can decide for himself if he can act as President from prison. If he can, then no problem, and if he can’t, then the Vice President takes over. In neither case does the trial in any way interfere with the office of the Presidency.

He came close a few times for contempt- but that would have been overnite at most.
But this is about the mildest Felony on NY books, and it’s white collar, and he is a first time offender. Even if he hadn’t been trump, he wouldnt be going to prison. Supervised release and probation, plus the other penalties.

Throwing the switch, “A Komodo dragon’s bite force is around 500 to 600 pounds per square inch (PSI), or 39 Newtons. This is weaker than other reptiles of similar size, such as the Australian saltwater crocodile, which can bite with a force of 252 Newtons.”
And the dragon’s bite is venomous, which prevents blood from clotting and causes massive blood loss.
An excellent choice for an ankle monitor.
