The SDMB is poorer for this turn of events. **Manhattan** did a superb job here (except for his puzzling refusal to implement my suggested policy of cutting off a finger of those who post incorrect answers in GQ) and will be sorely missed. - Rick ---

No MonkeyMule, it was the 1920s style death rays that pushed him over the edge. DISCLAIMER: the badly hijacked thread, not actual death rays which would have more severe consequences including irritable bowels, nervousness, night sweats, chills and being instantly burnt to a cinder. Consult you doctor to find out of 1920s death rays are right for you. ---

I won’t say that I’m sad to see **manhattan** go; I’ll instead ask what took him so long. No, I’m not talking about the impact on the Board, but on manny himself. Being a moderator is a very stressful job, and **manhattan** has been on it for far longer than most. I’m surprised he’s not in an insane asylum somewhere already, and I’m glad he had the sense to resign before that came to pass. Why, if I were a moderator, I wouldn’t have lasted a year. Oh, wait… ---
