# Map publishers hiding copyright traps?

Am I the only one who thought that Gilligan WAS his first name?

You’re right. It’s **Expano Mapcase** who misspelled it. Jennings spells the name correctly in his book.

You’re not the only one- Bob Denver thought so, too, according to _Gilligan’s Island_ creator Sherwood Schwartz. A early [press release](http://www.snopes.com/radiotv/tv/gilligan.asp) stated the character’s full name was Willy Gilligan, which Schwartz stands by, but the full name was never revealed on the show.
