Is there a mapmaking utility that I can use to map out my fantasy world for a novel I’m writing?

If you want something for free, I think your only option is pencil and paper.

[Here’s software](http://www.profantasy.com/evidence/gallery.asp) you can purchase, though it appears to be intended for RPG gaming.

You might try looking at [AutoRealm](http://gryc.ws/autorealm.htm). It’s designed for fantasy gaming but is a free, open-source mapping program.
