So, in honor of college basketball’s spectacular month of seemingly-endless tournaments, I’ve devised our own little bracketed popularity tournament. A couple of years ago, I did a March Sitcom Madness tournament, in which we crowned “The Simpsons” the Least Objectionable Sitcom EVAR. This year, with the opening of our new Game Room forum, I figured I’d revive the Madness, only with Beatles songs this time around. So, without further ado, here we go. –I’ve divided the Beatles catalog into four groups: A) 1964 & before B) 1965 & 1966 C) 1967 & 1968 D) 1969 & after –The seeding process consisted of three things: How much I personally liked the song, how much I thought the general public liked the song, and finally actual chart placement (if applicable). –In each round, match-ups will be deteremined by the seeding (Highest will play lowest, and so on). The final four will match up Bracket A with Bracket C, and Bracket B with Bracket D. –In each match-up, vote for which song you personally enjoy more. Songs with the most votes move on to the next round. A tie will be broken with a coin flip by me. –Voting will end for round 1 on Sunday, March 2 at 7:30 pm. If all goes according to plan, we will crown a champ on or around the evening of March 17. –Feel free to make predictions. I’m stunned that Sexy Sadie is receiving votes (considering the competition). Shows that you can never tell about people. 😉 (Perhaps a commentary thread would be in order 'cause I’ll be making more than a few throughout this). Songs that I probably would’ve had in my 64: Tomorrow Never Knows (no “probably” about it as this is my favorite Beatles song (though A Day in the Life comes close)), Got to Get You into My Life, With a Little Help From My Friends, Here There and Everywhere, Michelle, Within You Without You, Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite, Back in the USSR, You Never Give Me Your Money. ---
